What, The Cockney Strangler from Hairy Mary or whatever it's called? "Cor blessha, Mairy Po'ins!" I've known a few Americans who cringe at the way he murders that accent, never mind us lot over here. It's probably the reason why he never even attempted another non-American accent in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang despite having two English spawn and Lionel Jeffries for a dad. Also his medical advice was more than a little suspect: a spoonful of sugar is all very well, but it can be dangerous in some circumstances.
Unless you're saying I need a bath, in which case you're quite right.

People like her try so hard to control what everyone else does with their own bodies, but they're the last ones who care if/how food gets into the bellies of these unwanted children, or if they have access to health care.
If this slimy cunt's god was so fucking great, it would strike all rapists dead before they hurt anyone. Now that would be a fucking blessing.

I'm reminded of part of Antony Sher's speech in the wonderfully powerful film God On Trial. A transcripted quote can only tell you the words; to get the full effect you really need to watch the performance, to get the full strength of the passion that I can only vaguely attempt to simulate here with punctuation:

Ha! You are quite right, of course; however, I meant the picture to be an embodiment of a proper love for children and not something akin (this has new meaning now in the U.S.) to a clerical collar.
Dick only got the job because of his unsurpassed ability to simulate a Venetian gondolier while paddling throught chalk drawings. This was quite convincing, so any attempt to besmirch his lack of accent mimicry is severely misplaced considering the larger demands of the role.

I actually never knew that, so I learned something new on the internet again today! On the meaning you intended, I completely concur. A clerical collar ought to be a signal to a child to turn and run the other way, not necessarily out of fear of any potential physical molestation but for the rape of a young impressionable mind, which is a child's most important superpower. Only a child can make a blank piece of paper into everything from a restaurant menu, the bill for same, and a bus ticket all at the same time, as my little niece Rosie did the other day (she loves playing shops. And teachers) as well as a billion and one other things that only exist in the mind of a child.
Mind you, going back to the Cockney Strangler for a moment, I can actually (barely passably) dance with a broom handle while shouting "schtep in time!" Not on a bloody rooftop, though.

On the subject of the thread, I find it difficult to believe these people who say things like that are not just joking, as it is so distant from anything I experience, but I have no direct knowledge of the Lords resistance army either, but their views seem about the same, as they have the same god and religion.

I know that when Brad Dourif was being Pope Ratzinger Grima Wormtongue in LOTR, he stayed pretty much in character throughout, which meant retaining his Grima accent. Apparently, when others such as Sir Ian McKellen heard him speaking in his actual, native accent, they thought he was just playing about with a cod-American accent, since they just assumed he was English, never having heard him speak any other way until then.
