Hi I'm Angenlina and I'm an Atheist

RE: Hi I'm Angenlina and I'm an Atheist
Now this is a first: I actually beat Min to the punch! Normally it's the other way round! Mind, I tend to be rather more subtle than he is, which can be a disadvantage if I'm the only one who actually gets what I'm talking about...
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

No matter, welcome.

I told my wife of my atheism in 1995, a year after we got married. I should have waited until we were alone in an elevator (lift). That's a sad attempt at an atheist 'movement' joke. I had never seen my wife near a church, we had never discussed religion, but I was unprepared for her negative emotional response to my declaration. I could never imagine a better soul to share life with than her, much as I assume you feel for your husband based on limited information. My wife is still ignorant of the contents of the bible. Without more conversation, allow me to suggest another means of reconciling your situation.

You shared that your husband is reading the Bible. I hope he does this front to back, it gets off to a very bad start considering reality. No matter. Read it with him and discuss it. Seriously. You haven't portrayed him as an idiot; so, have fun with it.

Hi, the name is just a username not my real name, I'm in the UK too
Thanks for your reply
I 'may' have a think about reading the bible but I'm so seriously adverse to any form of organised religion , I would not be able to consider its text as I find it so abhorrent !!!
I feel I need to feather my own nest for the time being. I have had enough of religion being forced upon me in every day life, I'm not going to choose to read it! I may calm down when I grow up (I'm 44 going on 33*)
I need empowerment
Thanks for your welcome and suggestions ;-)

RE: Hi I'm Angenlina and I'm an Atheist
Hi all!
Really enjoying the site
I had to some of my frustration out here: my husband has added a few more comments that I'm having trouble with :
He told me ( on having spoken to his dad) 'don't you think he has a right to know (you're a non- believer) when yr bringing up his grand daughter?'
... As though I'm some sort of 'slaughtering/ sacrificing/ torturing/evil- worship' being... Then I find an email on our email fr his dad with some 'creationist website links, tv stations and 'come and see this chap .. He's very good' I forget the chap's name but it certainly wasn't Tim Minchin!!!
Discuss;-)

That's quite an accusation for someone who's just simply proclaimed atheism (as you've explained here). I wonder why you feel that they look at you that way. It's not like you're exposing your daughter (?) to a satanist in your home or anything! Having tea over satanic ritual conversations or the like.

Just curious, what's wrong with him having his own beliefs? He has his own mind, just as you want your own right to "not believe". Not sure of what you're looking for. Support from others here or are you trying to "change" him?
