Talking Snakes, Virgins Bear Children and Dead Men Walk

RE: Talking Snakes, Virgins Bear Children and Dead Men Walk
It is quite interesting to see the things they believe when you stop to think about it isn't it?

I've been having some discussions with christians recently and have commented on a number of pamphlets some of them have given me.

You can find them here on my blog if you're interested in seeing some of the ridiculousness and reading some of their arguments: http://theidiotsguidetoindoctrination.blogspot.ca/

You can actually still have discussions with them? I'm so far past that point I can't even see where it all started anymore. I know how it's going to end and start. It's costs me more energy now to keep calm and listen to that same story gain and again, then to just ignore them. So thats what i do. I think if your the cind of Atheist that tells the world about all the wrongness of religion thats really strong of you to do. But i'm done with trying. It's something thats going to figure itself out in the end just like all the other beliefs we use to have.
l like your blog by the way!

Because it's not possible nor true?

Of course there are no talking snakes, virgins don't give birth and dead men don't walk.

At the age you are now and being old enough to understand this forum, you must have some sence of something not being quite right... right?

Of course I don't believe these things.

It's just that i'm quite amazed at how many of you are here. Personaly, I would never sign up on a Christian forum, simply because to me it's a load of sheit and a waste of time, plus i've very much made up my mind.
And I know many Christians that think the same about Atheism. And thats just fine. So why are you here?
I'm just putting it out there because I really don't understand. I will try though, because I know you're not all bad ofcourse. I'm just curious.

I'm here because I enjoy discussing and debating with adults. I am too mature for boys my age.

There are many kinds of Christians. Some are what I call "superstitious Christians". That's not meant to be denigrating. It's just another way of saying "Christians who believe in the supernatural". Another group to which I belong are what I call "rational Christians". Rational Christians don't accept the supernatural. We look on the supernatural as a metaphorical expression in order to tell an ancient story.

I still don't get how religion and disbelief can coincide with each other. I also think it was originally posed as a metaphor, and I totally agree that it's an ancient story. However I am not a Christian. Are you a Christian just for the tradition of it? If that's the case, aren't you still just an atheist that keeps tradition?

I know I get a lot of flak for this from many Christians and also from atheists who think I'm just a weakling. Some have said it's because I'm only 13 that I don't dare to rebel against my parents and I'll change when I'm 18. That's not true. My parents aren't bothered about these things much.

The truth is I have spoken to my vicar and even my bishop and they are both agreed that my views are consistent with Christian tradition. They pointed out that one of our former Archbishops doesn't even believe Jesus existed. I'm not an atheist because I still genuflect, kneel, bow, pray, chant, sing and turn to God, the metaphor. I also submit to the authority of Holy Church.

But isn't Christianity based on belief? And why do you do all all those things towards something you consider a metaphor? To what avail is worshipping something you know not to be real?

"Rational Christians" that must be the most contradicting thing i've ever heard.

No, your a Christian if you believe in the Christian version of the story. If you don't, well, it could well be any God you believe in. So thats why I asked if you were a Christian or not.

We differ in the definition of a Christian. My church agrees with me. At least the clergy and prelates of my church agree with me.
