Only the manga for that one though. I only just watched the anime, but I read the manga years ago. You don't get all the full explanations that are in the manga in the anime... the ending is slightly better in the manga aswell. It is a series that I read regularly actually... having as many manga books as I have, you often find yourself just reading it all day. Tongue

Urgh.. I have the whole manga series, but I have tried to read through it twice, but never managed. After a while the 'he thinks that I think that he thinks that I think'- schtick just gets old Tongue Though, I would like to see the live action movies.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

The live action films are okay. They are decent if you look at it as a stand alone film series, but if you look at it as an adaption, then it isn't that great. Still worth the watch though.

I watched the beginning and end but read the whole middle section. It is the first (and so far the only) printed thing that has truly caused my heart to race, and on more than one occasion!

Clannad - After Story.

I think Clannad is incredibly over-rated. It's not that good at all. What I can say it is good for is an 'escape.' The world of Clannad is so nice and harmless - nothing like the real world.

I knew this sounded familiar. It's done by the same animation studio (silverlink) that did Tasogare otome x Amnesia (Dusk Maiden of Amnesia) which is one of my favourites (refer to avatar and signature.) I recently looked through everything Silverlink did.

Nice and harmless? Did you watch all of it? Are you forgetting the part where *spoiler* Nagisa becomes pregnant? Falls sick? Repeats Senior year 3 times? Dies from child birth? And then Tomoyo abandons lil baby Ushio for 5 years? That as soon as he comes to terms with a father he once held incredible disdain for and begins to repair his relationship with his daughter she dies? Totally Harmless. Tongue

The only bullshit with Clannad are the scifi elements and the trick ending, which I choose to think of as an alternate one.

Clannad has strong story progression and very little fanfare. The characters grow up, their lives dynamically change, they behold responsibilities, it's one of the most mature anime I've seen. Very real.

I have watched all of Clannad and After Story; Like I said, nice and harmless. Also, the baby lives with loving grand parents.

All of the characters are portrayed as air-heads who completely rely on the main character (the only one who is capable of problem-solving thought, apparently) for everything. The bland softness is what I'm taking about. From friendly street gangs to Okazaki and Sunohara’s implied deliquency, everything seems to have a fluffy coating around it. Actual pain, trouble, and strife are for different anime.

Key force-feeds you emotion and just expects you to hold onto it - which most people do, hence Clannad being so popular. It doesn't work with me, though. You're kidding yourself if you think this anime is mature. It's barely anything more than your typical slice-of-life anime story.

Also, did you watch it dubbed or did you watch it subbed?
