In that case your citizenship would be revoked and then you would be deported back to your country.

deported, exiled, killed......... same thing

north korea

Quote:Just few of your thoughts, what did that question made you think about and what do you think how would atheist be with something like an "Atheist Vatican"?

North Korea is still an atheist country, State Atheism has been tried it's almost impossible unless you get rid of freedom of religion and kill and/or exile all the preist, preachers, imam's etc...

North Korea isn't an atheist country,it's a country that mandates it's citizens to worship the state and it's leaders and consider them gods.

A rationalist country would pique my interest. An atheist country, meh.

You'd need to find enough rational people, MA, and I despair of doing so.

Albania, or better put "The Peoples Republic of Albania", which was the first nation to, under the brutal rule of Enver Hoxah, inforce "atheism" - to become a completly nonreligious country, by burning down churches, mosques and synagogs, and brutaly persecuting those who practiced their religious beliefs.

Maybe also the dutch. The Netherlands are the 14th rank, in nations with biggest atheist population in the world with 39 to 43 percent of the population being atheist. But still their national anthem is about how "god" is the protecctor of their nation. (probably because of it`s calvenist history)

My nation, Germany, sinceit is the 11th rank of nations with a high amount of atheists with almoust 50 percent of the population being atheist.

and then of course Sweden with 80 percent of it`S population being atheist.

i find it funny that some people, when trying to make some horrifying argument on atheism on the basis of communism give the Udssr as answere.
Sure especialy under Lenin and Stalin the russian orthodox church was persecuted. But one should not forget how the russian orthodox church missused their power in the decades leading up to 1917.
And the attrocidies commited against the russian othordox church during the rule of Lenin and Stalin were cruel, but North Korea, Mao`s China, Albania and Chauchescus Rumenia were just savage!

Well, I believe that aside from religious persecution, other types of atrocities were more prominent. I certainly do not like to present communism as an anti-thesis to religion, and never really criticized it under that context. One can hold any views one wishes to against religion. Acts on the other hand ought to be secular. Secular means that you ought to be neutral towards religion, not outright hostile.

RE: What about Atheist country?
nana what I mean is something we in germany call "Halbwissen" - translation - halfknowlege.
It discribed a number or historical event that someone uses in debate, although that number or event isn`t true or only half true, and the individual using it in his argument never bothered to reasure himself or herself if his or her argument was valid and factual, when the individual picked that number or event up and memorized it.

When Achmedinijad holds a speech at the UN or in Teheran, in which he states that "6 million people could have never died during the holocaust" it is a classical case of "Halbwissen", with which he makes a fool out of himself.
Because in total 11 million people died during the holocaust, out of which 6 million were jews.
So he makes a fool out of himself, in one sentence, twice.
