Where is this data? From what I have seen it makes you significantly less likely to be injured during home invasions/burglaries.

Predators seek the weakest prey, hence why mass shooting typically happen in gun restricted zones. i.e malls and schools.
7% Of home invasions in USA are when people are at home. 50% of home invasions in UK are done when people are at home. I wonder why?
Hopefully you will never have to go through it, but if you want to experience the 'safety' of being disarmed, then hang a sign outside your back door saying "we are unarmed, and will not resist home invasions."- try it, see how safe you feel.

Actually you're not, your ranked 2nd in assualt (the US is ranked 11th). You have more than twice as many assaults per capita to your credit. You're also ranked higher in overall crime (of any kind) per capita, though it's a closer race.

As you may guess, sometime statistics may be misleading, false, or wrongly applied. I like doing a quick check to make sure it is true as applied to me.
My entire family tree from my grandfathers on down, mostly in east Tennessee, has never had a child* injured or killed by a firearm kept in the household. That's several hundred people, and knowing my extended families as well as I do, I am sure there are firearms in 95+ percent of the homes and have been for 80 years plus.
My personal experience directly contradicts your claims. If your broad claims are true, then there is a subset in the population that is greatly skewing the results. What is it? Why didn't you name this over-represented segment? Is the reason for the omission dishonesty or ignorance?
*Younger than 16 years old. One 10 yr old boy was slightly injured by putting rifle cartridges in a fire in which pieces of the brass hit him in the belly. Nothing too serious ( I was alright with a band aid  ).

The US and the UK have fairly comparable definitions for assault, so that won't get you very far. You think your murder per capita rate is going to save the day on this one maybe, whats that number again? Well lets see, we have about 3.3 murders per 1ook, you have about 1.4 - so that's pretty nice. Less likely to be murdered by half, twice as likely to be assualted. "Safer" isn't exactly the word I'd use.
@Brake the statistics of oeverall gun owenership in the US are heavily skewed by subsets of the population just as heavily as murder rates by firearms are skewed. A useful observation.

To my knowledge no member of my large family has had their home burgled, and that information goes back to about 1905ish. It is in the nature of these things, like car accidents that they are occasional random occurrences, which is why an analysis of statistics is more useful than stories of personal experience.
