How old were you when you became athiest?

Sixteen.

I converted shortly after I realized there were other options. I never really gave religion much thought, but the moment I did, it all came crashing down. Like, literally instantly. One second I'm a Christian, the next I'm a pseudo-atheist. (I considered myself agnostic at first, but I eventually acknowledged that the probability of god existing was so small that it wasn't even worth consideration. I was probably an atheist deep down, but I was resistant to the idea at first, probably because of the negative potrayal of atheists in the media, etc. I think it was somewhere between three and six moths after I became pseudo-atheist/agnostic before I admitted to myself that I was an atheist.)

I reached the age of reason about 11 or 12, started asking "difficult" questions, I think the god botherers were rather glad when I stopped going to church!

I was born an atheist. At younger ages I could have been described as agnostic, but that was simply because I did not think on the matter at all. As soon as I did consider the question, it was clear that I was an atheist.

I was raised Christian. Didn't lose my faith until I was 17.

Although, I did start questioning my beliefs when I was 13, which was when I found out about other religions. But I remained a Christian for a few more years anyway because of the whole "hell" thing.

I was 0 years old. I never had an opinion either way for most of my life. My parents even gave up on religion. It was until I was around 16 or 17 that I finally started paying attention to what religion has done and continues to do to society.

I was about 6 or 7. We were Catholic and became Methodists when my parents divorced. I thought they were talking about different people with the same names in Sunday school. When I realized they were indeed speaking of the same Jesus, Mary, etc. I figured someone had to be wrong. I couldn't figure out who, so I just ditched the whole thing.

It's kind of silly that people are making such large theological decisions are such young ages. I remained an agnostic until my early 20s. Sometime without even noticing I slipped into being an Atheist.

I have never been athiest; I don't consider myself more athy than anyone else, never mind the most athy. However, I have been an atheist for at least as long as I can remember. I have no memory of ever even entertaining, let alone having, any superstitious beliefs. Growing up in the time and place I did was probably the best grounding I could ever have for the development of an enquiring mind and critical thinking. My parents, especially my Dad, encouraged my passion for astronomy from the youngest age I can remember, a consequence of which being I've always seen the Universe and never the heavens.

I was 14 (now 34).

It almost seems like it happened overnight for me. But I have no idea what "triggered" it per se. I just remember one day believing and the next not.

I can point to a specific time and date for when I realized that my god was not there, near death. It took years though for me to accept what I believe--along with the inevitable title, and mainly I was just pissed off at god for awhile, trying to figure out why he had forsaken me even though I was an upstanding daughter. My fiancee was an athiest when I met him and we agreed that I'd be the 'spiritual' one, and he'd be the 'logical' one, but he's helped me a lot to realize I need not be mad at god and for that I'm incredibly thankful!
Sometimes there's no one to be mad at for things in this life, you just have to be mad for awhile then let it go..
