Hello pumpkin. Don't mind if you linky these are from another site and I am of the opinion that they are pretty much general knowledge.

My sources? Shit I thought anyone with a modicum of IT abilities could find where these were sourced.

roughly speaking I am of the mind that they are rather accurate, +/-
so IF you find anything to the contrary please post it here

Well, one can't be too sure any more. If there is any kind of shit on the Internet, it's bullshit. I was just curious on your sources. I tend not to wiki the popes, but I more or less understand your meaning.

The quote attributed to Leo X was apparently something some playwright wrote for him. Doesn't mean it isn't true though...

RE: Know your Popes
Whether he wrote it or not, Leo X really summed it up didn't he? ...

Quoted: "How well we know what a profitable superstition this fable of Christ has been for us and our predecessors."

The significance of this statement has many levels, but one of my favorites is the fact that the "all-powerful" god of the bible couldn't even keep a non-believer from being "ordained of god" (which is something EVERY christian group claims when someone is made clergy) any more than he could remove him from that office.

The only thing stupider than christianity is the gullible dolts who sign up for it.

RE: Know your Popes
Let me rephrase. Leo X never said it. The quote, or something similar to it originally appeared in play written years after Leo's death. So says the mighty Internet anyway.

I understand that he may never have said it. I'm highlighting the sentiment.

It would seem all the Popes on that list seem to share this sentiment whether they spoke it aloud or not. Undecided
