Well, actually... the thread's been raised already, and there are on-topic and relevant discussions to be had. Sure, a new thread *could* be started, but as nobody has specifically responded to the shadows of the past that cannot speak: it should be just fine. My 2c. If mods disagree, then locking the thread is at their discretion. The real reason that threads are being necroed may well be a decline in overall forum activity (I wouldn't know if it's just a perception thing or if it's real... but then, I'm not close to anybody who could tell me)... at which point I'd say 'what harm is it doing, and is there any benefit to closing the thread'. I'd say it's a mistake to close this, as there's an interesting topic on hand regarding ethical basis, but I'm not invested enough to be upset. Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam

The real crux of the rules of this place had been for the first three years of a half decade 'apply the intent of the law when they're doing enough damage to warrant it, and fuck the letter of her'.
