Hi everyone :)
Hey everyone, I am new to this forum and I just thought I'd say hello and tell you a little about myself. I've identified as atheist for about 6 years now, though honestly I don't think I really ever believed. I decided when I was 12 for two reasons. One, I had an epiphany moment where I couldn't even tell someone what it was I believed in. And two, I realized that God had never done for me what wouldn't or couldn't have happened anyway.

So now I identify as Buddhist Atheist, because I have faith that we have souls, but that's as far as it goes. My rational side can't be put aside to believe in God. But I do have some faith in humanity left. But I'm young, I'll probably lose that too someday Tongue

Anyway it's nice to be here and I hope to get to know some of you soon Smile

By the way, my name is not because I'm violent or mean or anything. It's a band.

Hello and welcome to AF! ^_^
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I was frankly worried that we had got our first open-about-it A plusser on board Big Grin

Oh! I played this song once at a concert. No footage has been recorded, unfortunately.

P.S. 1666th post!

Welcome. Now be sure to barbecue kittens and record the NFL without their permission and rip the tag off your mattress.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke

Welcome aboard! You'll find your faith in humanity tested a little round here, but I'd just like to say my own got a little boost after reading this superb summation:

Quote:I realized that God had never done for me what wouldn't or couldn't have happened anyway.

Someone's got to put that on a t-shirt.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
