Religion does not have a monopoly on marriage. It is not something religion invented or owns. To say that it would violate first amendment rights, and insinuate that religious organisations have any rights over what a government grants to people as marriage, is down right fucking bat shit crazy.

I'd reply to more of your points but I have a habit of not being able to read enormous amounts of uneducated drivel.
Fascinating, considering you speak in such a manner as to imply you sorely lack education.

As to certain of the other members who have a predisposition to follow the self titled forum cunt by resorting to gutter language styles to make their point, you all did so just beautifully. You proved my point about the agenda driven oppressionist mob just as was expected.
Demand civil rights for a minority, while assaulting the right to disagree when members of the majority dare speak.
Beautifully done!

It does not violate your rights to be informed that you are a hateful asshole with disgustingly primitive opinions on this subject. By the way, those against marriage equality in America are no longer the majority. I compiled this list for A Theist when he got this wrong.

Just like old Bubba, you're on the wrong side of history.

I didn't make any typos did I?

Oh right, swearing offends you? Grow the fuck up.

Oh this is fantastic. This is absolutely, one of the most brilliantly ironic posts I've seen for a good long while on here.

You're saying people who support gay marriage are an "agenda driven 'oppressionist' (if you want to be a smart arse about education, you didn't spell that right my dear) mob".

Too fucking rich.

You really have this nasty habit of being disingenuous. Please tell me where I once 'assaulted' anyone's right to disagree? I'm all ears.

From what I've seen you really do either enjoy flagrantly misrepresenting what other people are arguing, or just have blinders on and prefer to argue against points you would much rather like to think we are making.

You know, I've seen you pulling this argument multiple times now. Trying to turn the bigots into victims by saying that it's infringing upon their rights when people tell them to fuck off when they're picking on minorities.

It's not oppression, when being kicked into the ground, to stand back up and punch the bloke doing it in the face. That's called standing up for yourself.
It's not oppression to see this happening, and pull the bloke away to stop him kicking the guy on the ground, that's called being a decent person.

No one said that you can't voice an opinion. It's the intent behind what you voice that counts. Saying something thoroughly malicious and bigoted and then whinging and whining that people get angry is pathetic.
Stop trying to make out the bigot to be a victim, it's disgusting.
If you believe it, question it. If you question it, get an answer. If you have an answer, does that answer satisfy reality? Does it satisfy you? Probably not. For no one else will agree with you, not really.

I'm planning on adopting a child within the next 3 years or so, and I hope that when I am a mother, people will help me defend my family against bigotry as they did here. It's going to be hard, being a single lesbian mother, and not easy to be my child, either. Hopefully, the love that I give my child will make up for the hate directed at him/her.

The thing that upsets me with your situation is that the bigots will say you don't deserve the right to have a child, and that it's unfair on the child because they might get bullied etc.

Well whose fucking fault is that?

It's certainly not the mother of a child who will receive no less love than if they had any other parent.

A bigoted mindset is the reason you're child might not find it easy, not that you are gay.

Good bloody luck to you!

Indeed. It's too easy to find children with heterosexual parents who are neglectful, abusive, or incompetent. You'll never sell me on the idea that gay couples are automatically inferior parents to those kinds of people.

Whether the parents are hetero, homo, or whatever is irrelevant. What matters is that they are caring, loving and providing.

I for one find it interesting that, despite your closely held moral beliefs and your absolute conviction toward standing up for your free speech rights to express them, you apparently do not have the wherewithal to actually defend them. Instead, you simply sniff about "gutter language" and pretend that smug self righteousness counts as an argument.

Well, when you're ready to play with the big boys, then come on over. Until you can actually provide solid, concrete evidence of yours or anyone else's rights being infringed by gay marriage- hell, until you are even capable of expressing to us how not being able to be a bully without consequences in a public space is an infringement on anything- then it just seems like you've admitted defeat. It seems as though you've run away. So tell me: how is it that when you disagree with us on this issue it's just you expressing your right to free speech, but when we disagree with you it's an assault on those same rights.

Because I don't even recall a single one of us telling you to shut up, let alone saying that you couldn't speak. Well, I suppose I did tell you to provide proof or STFU... but I notice you still haven't done so...
