After reading by an Australian who was in the USA during the 2012 election, calling some in the Republican party fascists while a little extreme is not far off the mark. Even those who would consider themselves members of the Tea Party are very authoritarian, expect on gun ownership and property rights.

I read that there is a 80% correlation among Republican tea party caucus members in congress and the Republicans in congress who voted for the extension of the Patriot Act without amendment.
