would you use a time machine to change your past
#31
RE: would you use a time machine to change your past
If i had a time machine, I'd go back in time and deliver myself a letter that lays out everything I need to know. Like, beanie babies are a wash, god isnt real, forget douchebags and dating, your soul mate is: Esquilax, I'd tell myself that I'm not lazy or odd I'm just sick, oh and the world isnt ending at the millenia or 2012, and I'd tell my parents OFF. Then I'd go buy some savings bonds.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Good point, Esquilax, how fun would it be to go forward in time and see how they interpret our current time period... I think that would be wicked awesome!

Go back a few years, win the euro-millions lottery, buy stocks a few special companies... let them sit. Just a few stocks of each, so your buying them contributes very little to change anything significant in history.
Return and become a filthy rich douche-bag overnight!

You wouldn't be at all curious enough to try and effect some major change in history, just to see which version of the rules of time travel the universe really uses? Big Grin

Depends on what you saw, really. Imagine heading to the future only to find that our time period is remembered for one thing above all others: for producing the first person to discover the secret of time travel, only to keep it secret and use it to construct a massive dictatorship.

... Actually, it would be pretty awesome to travel forward in time and meet evil future me. Forget I said anything. Tongue
