Rape and injustice.
#21
RE: Rape and injustice.
Mm, men aren't the only ones who commit rape. I actually have a bit of a theory [as in, backed by evidence and so far surviving attempts at falsification from others and myself] that most men who are raped never report it. There's an extreme social stigma for a male to come out as saying he was raped. Ever see that Family Guy episode where Peter's being harassed by his boss? It's kind of like that; the pervasive mentality that "men cannot be raped."

Trust me. They can.

The whole thing with men is that fragile ego of ours. We're stubborn as fuck when it comes to ANYTHING that might diminish that ego. Admitting a woman raped you? That's virtually social castration; not only will you probably not be vindicated, but everyone is very likely to laugh at you. "LOL A WOMAN MADE YOU HAVE SEX WITH HER? MAN, YOU LUCKY, WHY YOU BITCHIN'?! AND YOU GOT IT ROUGH, TOO, EVERY DUDE WANTS THAT."

Bit by bit, though, as the issues of rape are addressed and (too slowly) attended to, we notice more men reporting being sexually harassed or assaulted. The numbers are still small, but about ten years ago they were nearly non-existent. But now, rape's becoming something more people are addressing...and suddenly there's men popping their heads up and admitting they were raped. What a coincidence. Except not.

The actual number is something more like 5%. That means that 95% of the time, the rapes happened. So in other words, fuck you very much.
Nice strawman and cool story, bro.

Back to doin' that whole thing already, Gil? Well at least you had me wondering if I should give you the benefit of the doubt for a short time, anyways, but I guess old habits die hard, hmm?

Still, the vast majority of rapists are men. Even if every woman who raped a man was reported, the majority would still be vast.

Do we know this for certain? Never count the chickens before they hatch, after all. What you think might be a sweeping majority might end up becoming something split 50/50. I, for one, am not comfortable stating anything about majorities, sweeping or otherwise, while the numbers are only just starting to get reported from men.

Uh, no.
1 out of every 6 women is a victim of rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. By contrast, only 3% of men have been victims (and the perpetrators of these rapes are overwhelmingly male). So actual the rate at which women rape would have to be astronomically higher than the rate at which they are reported.

Women in our culture are not supposed to be as desperate for sex as men are. They are supposed to be the ones that shut everything down. It's not considered part of a female's nature to be aggressive about sex as it is considered part of a male's. The culture does not support female rapists. I'm not saying they don't exist, they're just going to be very rare.

By report, those are the numbers. By the way, it's probably closer to 1 in 5 for women with non-reporting taken into account. You're quoting numbers from reported rapes. I literally just addressed that. If only 3% of the male population has been raped, and that's the final closing number, then I must know nearly 10% of all men who have been raped (this is an exaggeration; before anyone jumps down my throat on this...), and most of the time I've only been confided in long after I've become friends with said individuals. Besides, since when has what someone is supposed to be or not supposed to be ever really meant anything? We're all supposed to be ultrapatriots ready to die for the flag, but most Americans are pretty pissed off at our country. We're all supposed to be Christians, cuz this here be a Christian nation. Except... And we atheists are all supposed to be a bunch of immoral child-murdering rapists because we have no "morals," and yet.

I think (emphasis on that, I'm not saying you are, this is just my perception so far) that you're coming at the problem from the mistaken POV that the biggest problem is simply "men. Men are the biggest problem with rape." I disagree with this conclusion. I think sexual repression is the biggest problem. I can't help but notice that nations that are largely non-religious seem to have fewer reported rapes but they do have a very high conviction rate, such as Holland, with a reported rape instance of 1.7% of the population yet a conviction rate of nearly 80%. And since religions tend to be the ones saying that sex is wrong and must be controlled and all this other shit, and the UK and US ARE the most religious developed nations in the world, and yet they have some of the highest levels of reported rapes...mmh...something to consider.

I am fairly sure that most rapes are committed by men in the US, mind you. I think this has something to do with the culture, not the "rape culture," I hate that term, but rather the culture that has this mentality where might makes right and men are stronger so therefore they can take what they want.

No matter. I am not volunteering in the field of prevention. I am volunteering in the field of trying to treat the symptoms. I don't have the cure. Nor do I even really have a grasp on the cause. Nor does anyone, it seems. Just a lot of blaming. Blaming the victims, the genders, the cultures, nothing concrete. I tire of blame. So I do the best I can.

It's a wonder that even in the western world women are being blamed for their own rapes. Send those fuckers to prison. Not juvenile hall, but put their pampered 17 year old asses in prison, for years and see what happens to them there. There are so many people involved in this who deserve to go to prison. Unfortunately the story will probably be forgotten in the months that

Creed, I'm completely ignorant on this, so please take my questions as sincere and empathetic.

How do women rape men? I mean, I understand that arousal doesn't necessarily come from good feelings, but do men really get erections while they're being raped, or is it usually anal? Also, are there any common scenarios for men who are raped? Is date rape more common than the jump-out-of-the-bushes type, for example? I mean, I would guess women would rely mostly on psychology instead of physical force, but that just brings me back to the mechanics.

Please forgive me if I'm too blunt.

But really, it doesn't bother me in the least - and instead of turning into an emotionally driven rage-machine, I keep a calm head; I guess that's very Canadian of me, relative to you Americans <3

Very vague article, but-

Probably got drunk and had sex with a couple dudes at a party. Dudes at the party took pictures of her going girls-gone-wild on everybody and the pictures started getting passed around. She screams "rape" as soon as she finds out news of her sexcapade is spreading, as to not be confused with a "slut" (although, I don't believe she is one; fuck double standards and fuck as many guys as you want, girls!) She takes her own life. People get all up-in-arms about it, all because they heard the word 'rape.' Ta-da.

I doubt it, I've known plenty of girls who have had sex with multiple men and been 'found out' I've never known any who killed themselves over it. How casual some men and young boys treat rape is shocking. If they are turned on it they feel it gives them a license.
