RE: Ex-"New Atheist", Now Christian
ROFLOL Who didn't see that one coming like a train in a tunnel? Toss a thread up Love.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

1) I don't talk about "philosophy". It's a bunch of mental wanking which serves only the purpose of making you theists feel better about your beliefs.

2) Medicine is not the only place to search for knowledge.

-- Botanics. Someone has to feed you fucks.

-- Animal husbandry. The same.

-- Planetary science: wtf is happening on this planet and others, as this one will eventually die out and we'll have to move to another

-- Space science: because that's where the other planets are

-- Environmental science: how do we have a cleaner planet to live on in the mean time?

-- non-life-saving medicine: how do we have a better quality of life period?

-- psychology/psychiatry/neuro-biology: understanding the human brain, if only to understand why people do stupid shit like... oh, I don't know... murder people and eat them, or fly planes into buildings.

I'm with Summer, any time someone says they have come to a conclusion through philosophy alone I shudder.
Philosophy achieves nothing by itself.
To test any philosophical argument do you know what you need, you need SCIENCE, and good science at that.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Thank you for the welcome and the warning. Big Grin

Yes, I am aware of this bizarre online phenomenon of established forum members attacking new members, which in actuality constitues a form of bullying. Bullying is obviously an evil behaviour typically performed by narcissists/sociopaths who themselves have an extremely low level of self-confidence. Bullying serves no other purpose than to make the recipient feel humiliation in order for the bully to feel a heightened sense of self worth. I actually do feel genuine pity for individuals who have such an incredibly low opinion of themselves to engage in such actions.

I now sense a few of these individuals entering dubious replies on this thread. Therefore, I will ignore anything that I perceive to be spiteful and I will only respond to people who wish to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Perhaps open a new non-intro thread on a topic of interest and begin this dialogue.

Intro threads are mostly just that.

Disagreeing with you does not constitute as bullying or non-meaningful dialogue, just so you know.

And mocking your ridiculous assertions which you have yet to provide anything of substance to defend does not constitute a lack of self-esteem on our part.

PS: notice this person has made 7 posts and is already claiming the martyrish "bullied" Christian newb card.

Nor are they answering all of the questions put to them that were asked in earnest.

Excuse me until something of substance come up - until then you're going to get the sarcasm.
