RE: Can you ever believe that there is no God
This is getting annoying. Can you just accept we're all going to hell and go away?

What an absurd question. Are you asking somebody to debate themselves?

The lack of evidence is a perfectly good reason not to believe a claim. If one wishes to strip the reason of its merit, all they have to do is provide evidence.

Conversely, Seeing evidence is a perfectly good reason to believe a claim, especially if there is an absence of evidence to the contrary.

Example:
I believe nothing can travel faster than the speed of light because evidence supports it. My inability to prove relativity wrong doesn't weaken the theory.

I also don't believe that there is a planet that orbits our sun between Earth and Mars. The complete lack of evidence for a planet-like spehrical object of considerable mass in orbit between our planet and the big red one next to it is good enough for me not to believe that such a planet exists.

I can know that there is no such thing as yours (at least in the sense that you'd insist upon), sure. Easy questions, easy answers. It's the deists of the forum I'm always wanting to grill, not the theists with their ridiculous and, frankly, already failed- gods.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Can you ever believe that there is no God
It's interesting that the title of this thread and what's stated in your sole topic sentence are different things. Can you ever believe there is no god? Can you ever know that there is know god? Two totally different concepts that Theists sometimes have a hard time wrapping their head around as they consider what they believe and what they know to be the same thing.

No, you can never prove the non-existence of evidence for there being no god.

Can you really know that there is no such thing as godless universe?

you can argue against traits of god. Like a person walking on water. But even then its more of a probability thing. You can't really say there is "no god, gods, or higher power". To make that claim, you would need extraordinary evidence to support that extraordinary claim.

I disagree. If there is no evidence for the existence of something, it should be understood that the something in question does not exist. The only extraordinary claim is that in relation to the existence of something that relies upon nothing except faith.

Can one ever believe that there is no god? Sure. Can one ever know that there is no god? Technically, no. An omnipotent being could hide himself forever if he really wanted to.

This is just rediculous.

The guy is effectively spamming all over the forum ignoring all replies and repeating ad nauseum the same tripe over and over and over.

Surely enough is enough. We've all seen this guy isn't here to learn about our answers to his questions. Rather his interest is in attempting to obfuscate replies and twist them to suit his own, indoctrained and warped view.

Now I will have to disagree with you. Cool Shades

If there is no evidence for the existence of something, it should be understood that there is no justification to believe it exists.

There was once no evidence that microscopic organisms were responsible for some diseases, did not mean they didn't exist.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
