Where do you come from?

Where I live now --

Some day I'd enjoy traveling around the country in the spring just to see wild flowers in other places.  Texas would definitely be on the list, and for birding too.  I love seeing humming birds and I think you get more different species of them than any where else in the country .. along with tanagers and gawd only knows what other rarities.

My wife was born in Ventura.  She lived there during WW II.  As a toddler her mother would walk them to the beach while her day was away as a merchant seaman (very lucky to have survived that gig).  At night they had to black out the windows, at least in drills.  Fond memories to hear her tell it.

Reminds me of places I've been in England.

My wife's only brother lives there but I've only been there a couple times to visit.

Having grown up a navy brat I love being in one place and literally putting down roots via my garden.  I still like to travel some but I also like being home .. a lot.

If you ever find your way down here, Whatevs, you let me know. You'll have a place to sleep, good eats hot off'n the stove, and all the flowers, birds, snakes, and 'coons you can handle, brotha.

Same goes for you Thump if you make it out to the SF bay area. With any luck I'll have finally finished the remodel of the guest bath.

Damned old warehouse isn't plumb, square or level anywhere. When I remodeled the kitchen I physically moved one wall and furred out two others. The floor drops two inches in about 8 feet from one side of the kitchen to the others. Weird.

I might be out there this winter for my son's holiday break, and maybe could drive north for things. I'll keep you posted. Smile

Do that. It'd be fun. We kind of have the 'honor' of hosting big holiday meals these days but I'm sure you'd fit right in. You'd like my brother and Lia's cousins are fun. If her musical cousin from Oregon were to come you two would have a lot of fun together and the rest of us could do our best alley cat singing. Let me know when you know. Damn now I really do got to get my hands dirty and try to make something more silky than sow's ear-like in that guest bath.

Some other Limeys who get Texas:

I hopefully will be next year, gonna be travelling the states with my girlfriend, and Texas will be one of the first stops on my list for sure! At the moment the closest I've come is Arizona (which is also pretty beautiful country).  Worship
