I despise the "Us vs. Them" mentality that religion creates, so why would I want to fuel it by subscribing to the beliefs in the OP?

I don't see religion and religious people as enemies. This doesn't mean I approve of everything that is done in the name of religion but not every religious person approves of these negative aspects either.
