If sufficiently advanced techology is indistinguishable from magic...

RE: If sufficiently advanced techology is indistinguishable from magic...
Antony Flew 1923-2010 ( Professor of Philosophy former atheist , author and debator ) quote " It now seems to me that the findings of more than fifty years of DNA research have provided material for new and enormously powerfull argument to design " oops must have upset a few anti God folks, anyway have you not heard about the team of Russian geneticists and linguists researching the electromagnetic behavior of DNA they have discoverd that "Junk DNA" is critical not only for the construction of our body, but also in the storage and communication, they also discoverd that 90% of our DNA follows the same rules as grammar, syntax and semantics as human language their conclusion is that human language mirrors the structure of our DNA . Of course this makes perfect sense to us folks who believe the scriptures Psalms 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

A professor of Philosophy...not a professor of genetics. I am a very capable writer (by the opinion of others) and a talented cook (reiteration). Yet for some reason I don't comment on automobile engines. Why? Because I don't fucking know anything about them.

It doesn't seem strange to you that the man was an atheist his entire life but at the very end of his lifespan he suddenly found god?

How convenient for him.

He was a man who was confronted with his mortality and succumbed to fear. This is exemplified by how wildly he kept changing his opinions and stances during the last ten years of his life. He went from having a constant stance that would change only in minor ways according to new data to suddenly making wild jump to conclusions at the very end of his lifespan, and he never really did much to justify his sudden changes in position other than "I just has a feels, guiz." Which, surprise surprise, caused most people to stop taking him seriously...including many of the religious, who considered what he was doing to be a deathbed conversion and little else.

Also it's worth noting that apparently this.

Quote:In 2007, Flew published a book titled There is a God, which was listed as having Roy Abraham Varghese as its co-author. Shortly after the book was released, the New York Times published an article by religious historian Mark Oppenheimer, who stated that Varghese had been almost entirely responsible for writing the book, and that Flew was in a serious state of mental decline, having great difficulty remembering key figures, ideas, and events relating to the debate covered in the book. His book praises several philosophers (like Brian Leftow, John Leslie and Paul Davies), but Flew failed to remember their work during Oppenheimer's interview. The article provoked a public outcry, in which atheist PZ Myers called Varghese "a contemptible manipulator."

A further article by Anthony Gottlieb noted a strong difference in style between the passages giving Flew's biography, and those laying out the case for a god, with the latter including Americanisms such as "beverages", "vacation" and "candy". He came to the same conclusion as Oppenheimer, and stated that "Far from strengthening the case for the existence of God, [the book] rather weakens the case for the existence of Antony Flew". Varghese replied with a letter disputing this view. Flew released a statement through his publisher stating that although Varghese did the actual writing, the book belonged to him and represented his thinking. An audio commentary by William Lane Craig concurs with this position, but Richard Carrier disputes this view. Though Carrier's objections have themselves been criticised. In June 2008, Flew stated his position once again, in a letter to a fellow of the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship.

If there is a force that breaks the laws of physics, but that force is governed by even greater laws, would that still be magic?

Would you care to provide some references to that? Apparently it's being studied, so you must have some peer reviewed papers that have been accepted by mainstream science, right? I mean, you're claiming that this is scientific, so... what's up?

You can't provide any real references, can you? Because your claim is bullshit, and you can't even elucidate what it means that "DNA follows the same rules of grammar, syntax and semantics as human language," can you? You have no goddamn clue what that would entail, do you?

You're just spewing total bullshit, aren't you?

Charles.B.Thaxton PH.D. ".....the genetic code can be understood as an analogue to human language. It functions exactly like a code - indeed it is a code it is a molecular communication system within a cell ... oops now which one of us is spewing , I know the hate you spew, it comes from the fear of the truth, for you are a lover of lies, and i know your end, but you know nothing ?

An analogue to human language. Do you understand the definition of analogue? It means to be comparable, not exactly similar.

You're grasping at straws, here.

I know your end, too. It's death. It's kind of one of those things that's guaranteed. We're all going to end eventually. Proclaiming knowledge that you know someone will end isn't very impressive.

You motherfucking dishonest fuck... Charles B Thaxton is an intelligent design proponent, which is the same thing as saying "not an honest scientist." He's got an agenda, and in fact the books he authors tend to attack science and naturalistic solutions to anything; he's a biased non entity, and his opinions on what is or isn't in the genetic code (he's a chemist, btw. Not a biologist.) means approximately dick.

Gotta love how you call others lovers of lies and then lie yourself to try and prove your intellectually barren point, asshole.

DNA is not a code or a language. It is just talked about using those terms in order to simplify it for non-professionals.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
