After browsing a few threads in the past hour, I think I'm going to come to love seeing your posts.

Yes, convert back to Christianity, we’ll welcome you back. Smile

Perhaps!

Why? I'd love to have him back. What sounds weird to me is a bunch of atheists applauding the conversion of someone to what they claim is not a religion. Tongue

I do truly appreciate the kindness shown by some Christians, and yours. Thanks!

... and even weirder, a Christian's participation in said applause.

It does get easier. I can identify with what you are going through now, it was scary for me at first. What did it for me was that all the evil and suffering in the world could not exist if any kind of kind and loving god existed. If there was any kind of creator, well, he was doing an inexcusably horrible job and deserved to be ignored, not worshiped. Any religion, any one at all, is pure poison. Were it not for religion a great many things would be a lot better. No religious wars, no religious persecutions, no people believing totally baseless crap like abortion is wrong, contraception is wrong, being Gay is wrong, marrying someone of another faith is wrong. The list is endless. You mentioned in your OP that you had a couple of atheist friends. That's a good thing. Keep your chin up. You've liberated yourself, and that's a wonderful thing.

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Well I am lonely as shit. I used to go to church. It was really fun. Youth group and retreats and stuff. The kids were awesome and I had a blast. However, I just never believed what they taught and I knew deep down I thought some of it was just wrong. Now I am not going to get into an argument because yes, there are many good moral lessons to be learned and what not. But it's just all the horrible things that happened in the bible that ruined it for me. But anyway, I would rather do my own thing and know that what I believe is ok and not have to hide it. Rather then fake what I believe at church and with the people I talked to there. Now, I hardly have anyone. I don't go to church anymore and never will return. Was it a good idea? I really don't know. All I will say is I am in search for the truth. And while I am pretty much 100% sure I will never find it within my life time, at least what I believe makes sense to me.
