Here's how it all went down:
I'm reading through the thread, something doesn't sit quite right with me, and OMG!!! I made a mistake. Something that never happens to anyone...
I do go on to clearly explain what I was taking issue with, minus the gay attachment to sexual predators.
And just for good measure:
I, FESTIVE1, MADE A MISTAKE. AT NO POINT DID IDEOLOGUE08 STATE THAT GAY MEN RAPE CHILDREN. MY MOST SINCEREST APOLOGIES FOR ANY SLIGHT THAT MAY HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM MY HONEST MISTAKEN PERCEPTION AND INFERENCE.

Where did you assume gay men want to rape boys?

I'm skeptical... what if the scout leaders just want to bang the shit out of the young gay boys? They might be a target in any sexual assault.

This... Alright, you don't say gay men rape children, however, this seems to imply the scout leaders are all sexual predators and want to bang boys, especially the gay ones...

I'm still waiting for a quote where I apparently said or assumed that gay men want to rape boys.

I think she nailed it. Scout leaders = men (sometimes gay) and "young gay boys" pretty much says it all. If that's not what you meant perhaps you were saying you're more concerned with the straight scout leaders preying on gay boy scouts? That seem to fit better with the profile of sexual predators.

Honestly, any organization that gathers children like iron filings to a magnet is going to have the same effect on sex offenders. It's no different than the RCC in this regard. The manner in which cases and accusations of sexual abuse were handled is eerily similar to the way that the church handled their own. Course, they were both reading from the same playbook...so I guess that's to be expected.

One of the few decisions I can remember my father making for me was to opt out of scouting. He went to a meeting, thinking about getting me into it, and decided that it wasn't for him, and it wasn't for me. Good man. I still managed to learn how to tie a knot.

I think it's going to be your world crashing down sonny buck...Especially with all the IRS scandal targeting conservative groups and the DOJ targeting journalists they don't like...I hope the Republicans can stretch this all out in time for the mid terms...Me kill myself? Isn't it funny the how anti-homosexual crowd is always worried about whether someone with the same genitalia is pining after theirs? What does it matter as long as they aren't in your face about it? Do they level this same amount of concern towards everyone of the opposite gender?

The issue may not be as much with the adult leadership as it would with gay boys having a physical and sexual attraction to other boys...

What difference does that matter? We have boys and girls together in classrooms and such. How come the sexual attraction there isn't a problem?

The only problem I see is the outdated religious attitude towards sexual attraction, and the fact that some people just can't let it go.
