I admit I didn't know much about Mormonism, but that one South Park episode told me everything I needed to know.

Well then, just for fun, here is the Moron FAQ page for Kolob.
http://lds.about.com/library/bl/faq/blkolob.htm Quote:We learn of Kolob from Abraham's account found in The Pearl of Great Price, one of the Standard Works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ah....A "Pearl of Great Price" eh? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Abraham Quote:The Book of Abraham is an 1835 work produced by Joseph Smith[1] that he said was based on Egyptian papyri purchased from a traveling mummy exhibition. According to Smith, the book was "a translation of some ancient records ... purporting to be the writings of Abraham, while he was in Egypt, called the Book of Abraham, written by his own hand, upon papyrus".[2] Smith's translation of the papyri describes a story of Abraham's early life, including a vision of the cosmos. The 1835 date is interesting given that Jean Francois Champollion only published his Précis du système hiéroglyphique in 1824 which means that in a mere 11 years it had penetrated to the wilds of Missouri in time for this douchebag to "translate" hieroglyphs! However, as further noted....(humorously) Quote:The Book of Abraham papyri were thought lost in the 1871 Great Chicago Fire. However, in 1966 several fragments of the papyri were found in the archives of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and in the LDS Church archives. They are now referred to as the Joseph Smith Papyri. Upon examination by professional Mormon and non-Mormon Egyptologists, the papyri were found to bear no resemblance to Joseph Smith's interpretation, and were common Egyptian funerary texts, dating to about the first century BC. As a result, the Book of Abraham has been the source of significant controversy, with Mormon apologists offering a variety of explanations as to the reason for the differences. Feel free to take this info and shove it up your mormon pal's ass. (June 6, 2013 at 12:18 pm)Tonus Wrote: Yeah... if they can convert you, you probably had one foot in the padded cell already. What?!? No! This bastion of American intelligence and reasoning converted to Mormonism...

Or, if you'd prefer to discuss with your friend the course that mormonism took after it's manufacture, and as soon as it gained any measure of power - however temporary -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Meadows_massacre Quote:On Friday, September 11, 1857, two militiamen approached the Baker-Fancher party wagons with a white flag and were soon followed by Native American agent and militia officer John D. Lee. Lee told the battle-weary emigrants that he had negotiated a truce with the Paiutes, whereby they could be escorted safely the 36 miles (58 km) back to Cedar City under Mormon protection in exchange for turning all of their livestock and supplies over to the Native Americans.[14] Accepting this, the emigrants were led out of their fortification. The adult men were separated from the women and children. The men were paired with a militia escort. When a signal was given, the militiamen turned and shot the male members of the Baker-Fancher party standing by their side. The women and children were then ambushed and killed by more militia that were hiding in nearby bushes and ravines. Members of the militia were sworn to secrecy. A plan was set to blame the massacre on the Native Americans. The militia did not kill some small children who were deemed too young to relate the story. These children were taken in by local Mormon families. Seventeen of the children were later reclaimed by the U.S. Army and returned to relatives in Arkansas. For those not willing to commit to the entry.. these cocksuckers dressed up as natives and attacked an emigrant wagon train -apparently they thought their brand new theocratic democracy was somehow threatened by them....when someone mentioned that he thought the immigrants might have noticed that they were, in fact, whites - this was the plan to deal with any remaining witnesses to the siege......that's right..I said siege.

If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
Mormons are fun. They used to stop and talk to me when I lived in Virginia. But ever since I moved to Texas they never stop by.
I see them peddling past my cul-de-sac every once and a while. It makes me sad. Mormons believe that jews boated over to North America a long time ago. After they got here they split up into two main camps. Good guys and bad guys. The good guys still looked like jews of today. The bad jews got red skin. Then all the redskins killed all the good jews. So all Native Americans are evil jews! Oddly enough though genetic studies done on Native Americans show that they are all descended from east Asians. Ask her about that. Also ask her to buy me a men's pair of their magic underwear. Size medium. I hear they are really comfy. They don't let us non-mormons buy them. *sniff* |
