When I was in the military occasionally they would serve okra. As I would be standing in line to get chow there would always be at least one Northerner who would say, "What the hell is okra?"

I'd shoot back, "It's a vegetable you ignorant Yankee." Wink

When she made cornbread it was pretty good. I've had cornbread in restaurants that tasted like wallpaper paste but her's was nice and moist.

If only she had stuck to the cornbread.

That's as it should be. This zero-tolerance nonsense where they're suspending kids just for pointing their finger like a gun is ridiculous, especially when that one school made a deaf child sign his name differently because part of it briefly required him to make a sign similar to a finger-gun since his name is Hunter.

When I was in high school in the 80's, one of my classmates brought in a shotgun and showed how to break it down & clean it in speech class where we had to demonstrate how to do something. Of course it was totally unloaded, and nobody panicked and kicked him out of school. How times have changed.

Okra is one of the most disgusting foods in the universe. Only beaten by Lychees and Avocados.

The whole idea of a greatest country is dumb. On what variables do we judge this? What makes a country great for one person might make it a shit-hole for someone else. If your passion is firing semi-automatic weapons then the US is the greatest. If you love soccer probably not. No country is the greatest country.

I would then say, "And you intentionally put that shit in your mouth?"

I would then take a heaping bowl full only to throw it away to ensure I didn't see it again at midrats.

Truthfully, I can munch on fried okra. Traditionally prepared it has the consistency of snot.
