RE: New Site Motto (Poll)
I can make as many as people want.

I suggest that anyone who want's their motto displayed simply add it to this thread and then I'll create the logo's and put them on here or my site for Adrian to copy.

RE: New Site Motto (Poll)
Here are more mottos I want adding then; or atleast some more possibilites: (be prepared for a long list).

"It would be a miracle if a miracle DID happen".

"Yes we have a soul; but it's made of lots of tiny robots." - Daniel Dennett.

"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" - Douglas Adams.

"How can I believe in God when just last week I got my tongue caught in the roller of an electric typewriter?" - Woody Allen.

"Yes, there may be a creator. I don't think it at all likely." - Stephen Fry.

"If ignorance is bliss, why aren't there more happy people in the world?" - Stephen Fry.

"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence." - Richard Dawkins (is this quote too big? lol)

"The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one" - George Bernard Shaw.

"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." - Aldous Huxley.

"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" - Carl Sagan

"Those who believe absurdities will commit atrocities" - Voltaire

"Which is it, is man one of God's blunders or is God one of man's?" -Friedrich Nietzsche

"As people become more intelligent they care less for preachers and more for teachers" - Robert G. Ingersoll

"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason" - Benjamin Franklin

"People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs"

"The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it." - Terry Pratchett

"'You're basically killing each other to see who's got the better imaginary friend." - Richard Jeni

"I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death." - George Carlin.

"The only good thing ever to come out of religion was the music." - George Carlin.

"Atheism through a philosophy of pro-evidence is more than anti-faith....it is a philosophical science. A way of thinking." - me.

Keep looking at the motto, it should change every 6 seconds.

I'd add: "The miracle is that there are no miracles." - Einstein.

and my new sig:"Faith is the belief that if an idea is attractive enough then it's worth committing to even if it's not true." - me....

but you don't have to put the 'me' part or the quote marks of course.

I can add them all as animated gif's are very effecient. Trouble is that it will always start with the same motto.

This may of course not be a problem though...

RE: New Site Motto (Poll)
I've thought of another one myself which I like the idea of...there is a saying that 'LIFE is a journey not a destination'

That's true but that's obvious anyway....except that some people would argue that 'death is the destination of life'. But that's almost certainly wrong because if you mean death as in 'dying' then if you're dying then you're still alive....so thats part of the journey...it's not a destination...

And if by death you mean when you're actually dead....then if you're dead then that's not part of life....and if death is not part of life in any way then death can't be 'the destination of life'. Also IF there is an after life then life continues after death so your journey hasn't ended...so death still isn't a destination...

ANYWAY I DIGRESS; the point is I think the idea of life being a journey has more merit in the idea of truth.

SO.... The quote I'd like to add is this:"Truth is a journey not a destination." - me.
