Another interesting feature I notice is that it seems like you escalate in stars (from 1 through to 3 at least for me) by just not evading the police successfully. In fact it seems like that if you start off as a 1 star and just keep driving eratically but not losing the cops behind you your star rating goes up and more police start getting involved. (quicker if you ram cars/run people over in sight of the police/other civilians).

Puts an emphasis on smart escape routes (of which there are many, including sewers and small alleys) rather than just "drive fast to a safe house". Helicopters also scan the ground for you for some time if you lose then cops on 3/4*s, meaning hiding in places undercover is a massive benefit (eg, bridges or car lots).

One final thing I notice. The police don't ram and try and kill you on 1/2*s (at least not all the time). Instead I notice they try and get you to stop by pulling up near you and shouting things out of their loudspeakers. Guess that makes it a bit more realistic.

RE: GTA V
I spent maybe five minutes on a jet ski, just zooming out away from the shore, enjoying the cool water effects and getting progressively more surprised at how far away I was getting... until I hit the wall.

Suddenly, as my sister and I watched, the jet ski lost power and sank below the waves, inexplicably carrying me down with it. A black shadow approached, rapidly becoming a shark and eliciting many swears. Damn thing followed me, circling as I desperately swam back toward a shore I couldn't even see anymore, before finally going in for the kill. We broke out laughing as Michael's bloodied form sank into the silent blue depths.

This game is fucking awesome. Big Grin

Yeah the underwater environment is as rich as the rest of the world, something I wasn't too excited about at first but soon as I got into that sub, all we could do was watch in awe.

Just curious, anyone who has played this, are the driving mechanics and shooting aspects improved significantly from GTA4? And did they return vehicle customization yet?

Yep, vehicle customization, much better handling in cars. Planes and helo's are different to fly. You can run and gun much better and have like 2000+ rounds in your guns. Lots of improvements.

Finished my campaign last night. Brilliant game, easily the best GTA made and quite possibly the finest sandbox ever made.

The main story never felt like I was going through the same motions repeatedly which was a gripe I had in GTA 4. Naturally I won't spoil the story for anyone, but keep going through it if you haven't cleared the main story yet.

I've had some fantastic sandbox moments so far too, ranging from people beating me up for standing next to them to getting run over by a cop who was in a high speed pursuit whilst trying to cross the road.

Overall it was a great game and I cannot wait for it to be on PC so I can get rid of the aliasing and mod the flight physics to not suck a chode.

Yeah I finished the other night too.

Honestly though, I genuinely think that San Andreas had a better story and more memorable moments. It might just be because I've grown up since playing games years ago and don't get so heavily invested in games like I used to.

That said, still absolutely fucking epic, easily the best game of this year and a contender for game of this console generation.

I'm going to buy GTAV after the hype has died down and get it second hand from CEX for cheap. It looks sooo good!
