The average doctor here earns between 75 000 to 211 000 Euros a year.

My dentist owns a villa in Cuba and has a hobby centered arround collecting and testing the ciggars of this world.

And our healthcaresystem is "socialist".

It`s a stupid myth that a doctor doesnt own anything in our kind of healthcare system.

It being a right doesn't have any bearing on the whether or not something should be controlled by the market. Heathcare is a right in Venezuela but the public hospitals are a joke. I believe most professionals are paid on salary rather than hourly, but point well taken.

We could solve our social-economical problems if everyone earned precisely the same amount. None of this millions of dollars a year nonsense for someone who runs up and down a grassy field while the majority make less than minimum wage.

I guess he was exaggerating.

The point remains, our doctors arent bad off.

And it is also a hard thing to determin anyway, the fresh from medical school doctor who has to take the worst jobs in the hospital obviously earns less than the South African expert on Leukemia employed by the Saudi royal family.

"doctor" is one of these terms which cover alot of things

What would be the motivation for someone to put in 12 years of medical school, work untold fast paced hours with peoples' live in his hands, be on call 24 hours a day if all he's going to earn is the same pay as someone who unloads trucks at WalMart?

First off I used the word starve for a reason. Also used the word almost for a reason. I'm not against food stamps or similar programs that prevent hunger and that website that you linked to doesn't actually give any information about hunger in the US other than that poor people are on food stamps and other programs that prevents them from being hungry. I also think there are good reasons to be skeptical of such claims, considering the poor in the United States are actually more likely to be obese than any other income group.

It says nothing about starvation at all.

Societies have tried that and it has never worked out well. I would be extremely skeptical that it would work out well in the future.

Well, in coutries where people aren't raised to be selfish, greedy, money-grabbing arseholes, people become Doctors because they're good people with a desire to help other people.
