I don't know man, its generally not the case in most of the Moslem world. But its how to say...a custom over there.
We have the same with the kurds here, but you can't watch everyone now, can you? A friend of mine who lives in the area says that he sometimes sees an old man and some girl, with the holding a baby. Normally, here, we'd think that both the baby and the girl are the old man's grandchildren or whatever and their mother is getting themselves checked. But there, the first thought that flashed through their minds is that the girl had to be his wife, and they said, she looked no younger then 17. So she must have been 16 when she got pregnant.

Nothing but respect for this young kid. I have to say it's really heartening to see such strong women coming out of the middle east. Brian already mentioned Ayaan Hirsi Ali, plus there's Malala Yousafzai who is also just a kid too. I'm looking forward to seeing more coming out of the woodwork too.

I really get down on people who say "that will never change", how the fuck do we show these girls and women our support if we keep saying crap like that.
