Religion to Disappear by 2041... Thoughts?

RE: Religion to Disappear by 2041... Thoughts?
Maher couldn't possibly less funny than he is now. church will never cease to exist. sorry. Ever. There will always be Christians. Christ promised that. His church would never end on earth. Looks like a nice prophesy 2000 years later! Wow, how he know? How he know future? How something written down 1800 years ago still seem to be true? His church did stretch to all the ends of earth just as he foretold too! Wow! What is probability of that, you lazy secularists? With yourmicroscopes and rulers and telescopes you worship? I will admit one thing. The Church is part people(faithful) and part heavenly (god, angels, saints). So in that sense it has elements of perfect, and imperfect. Humans minister the faith but are sinful, imperfect. The teachings and doctrine come directly from god. Who is perfect. All your stories of sin by people in church are not an argument against church nor existence of god. Because we've just said since church on earth is part god and part man, there will be error, sin, mistakes. Way less mistakes than societies run by your atheist ilk though. Stalin, pol pot, hitler, Hussein. The list goes on. Dolts.

And if Christianity had died out, there wouldn't be anyone pointing this out as an accurate prophecy. But actually, Jesus predicted his return in his disciples' lifetimes. How he not know future?

Whenever I read about predictions regarding the end of religion, I automatically lump them with eschatological predictions regarding the end of the world. Just damned silly noise-making.

I would certainly hope that by 2041 the United States would look religiously more like Europe does now. That is, a ~50% atheism rate, and loads of people who think that church is only for visiting three times in your life: When you are born, when you get married, and when you die. I don't know if it will happen by then or not, but we might be surprised.

I have the same hopes as well, but religion will probably never be eradicated. It's like a goddamned cockroach.

Religion, in and of itself, is almost irrelevant. Honestly it does not matter to me when a bunch of fools waste their Sunday mornings listening to a bunch of crap about some mythical being. The problem with religion is when adherents try to make use of their numbers to create political problems in a society. Islam is the most obvious case but even in the US we have seen a serious effort by jesus freak assholes to write their silly superstitions into the law.

Western Europe, OTOH, provides us with a glimpse of how things can be when religion is no longer a factor.

I do see....possibly within 20-30 years religion in the US going the way of Europe and simply being phased out as a driving force in politics because their numbers are declining.

This will be a welcome change.

Well, the Republican party is already marginalizing itself, so that's a good start. And they still seem to have the attitude of "Well, we lost, so we should move even further to the right!"
