Can we just laugh at Ken Ham for a bit?

Yes, let's edit this for context; shall we?

"There's good money in fooling the already deluded masses. I suspect that some of these mega-christians are in it for the money alone. I'd go so far as to say that the richest among them might have even become atheists after seeing the stupidity of the fools funding their rich lifestyles."

So, as others have pointed out; a thief is a thief. A thief can deconvert, and it makes the new atheist no less of a thief. Remember, he was a thief as a christian first.

And continues to rob them in the name of his/her fucking god and they are too stupid to catch on.

Doesn't matter if it is Ham or the fucking pope. It's all the same scam.

It's possible that some of them don't believe what they're peddling and keep doing it because it's lucrative. You have folks like those televangelists who lived very different lives than they preached (Baker, Swaggart, for example). But a combination of ignorance and stubbornness with a healthy dose of confirmation bias could be keeping them from learning enough to understand why they're wrong. The notion that he's putting "a final nail in evolution's coffin" seems so spectacularly wrong that it leaves you breathless, but for many believers it makes perfect sense because they really don't understand evolution.

To the person who believes that evolution can be debunked because "monkeys still exist," these jokers are downright brilliant.

I guess this is an easier industry than hollywood.

But they cater to a very specific group of people though. People who don't even know that bananas have gone through generations of artificial selection. It would require that they diligently stay away from newspapers, science, wikipedia, museums, etc etc. And talk to anyone who's knowledgeable about this.

It's so ridiculous, lol, almost no words for it.

I love the sexy, female voice that chimes in at the end with, "How do we know the bible is true?"

For a moment, I actually considered learning about the bible, but only with the condition that the lady with the voice teaches me.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Basically the hamster is saying that no matter what the actual evidence says, you should still go with the bible because a comforting lie is better than the uncomfortable truth.

Much like those moronic Catholics in California with their weeping tree.

Even when presented with the proven explanation that the tears of the tree are in fact aphid shit, they still prefer the lie.

Because reality is a big, cold scary place and we are much happier here in the nursery.

Not necessarily. It's not that they stay away from all that stuff, but when they hear conflicting evidence they say, "This is a lie!" and keep believing the lies they've been fed by their pastor.

I see it all the time with conservatives who keep watching Fox News and believing everything they say while ignoring or automatically poo-pooing anything which contradicts what they want to hear.

So it doesn't matter what scientific evidence anyone can show proving that evolution happens, they'll just keep being willfully ignorant and believe that all science is the result of evil Satanic atheists who are trying to disprove God's existence.

Spot on. Here's the statement of faith from Ham's terrible website. Of particular interest is the last point in section four: I don't know how anyone could have that passage on their site and still claim to be looking for truth, let alone answers.

Oh wait, right... creationists. Up is down, black is white, and discounting anything that contradicts you out of hand is a truthful position. Thinking

They're looking for answers as long as the answer is always "Goddidit."
