You’re only getting one side of story here. I work at the restaurant and your representation of the events is way off base. The group was being loud and obnoxious to both customers and staffers. They kept complaining about their long wait and were talking about how “whitey” was able to get seated, but they were not. The problem was that they had a large group and insisted on sitting next to each other. We only had one area that could accommodate their large group and the patrons in that area were not done. So yes, some “whities” were able to be seated before them, but only because they were going to a different area. We also seated non-whites in other areas too…They made this a racial issue before anything. One of the guests also insulted a deaf white girl because she didn’t respond to one of them telling her to move (she was deaf and didn’t hear them) They were also all standing in the middle of the walk way, making it difficult for customers to leave. We asked them if they could move over, but they said they can stand wherever they want, and if we wanted them out of the way then we should seat them. The customer that was offended was offended by a particular individual’s constant uses of the word “n*gger” When asked to stop, he threw out a long string of racial epithets against one of my co-workers.

Myself and my family have had to wait nearly that long to be seated at restaurants before. If I get tired of the wait I gather everyone together and we go someplace else. Which is what these guys should have done instead of making asses out of themselves and screaming racism...I sat in the OSU hospital emergency room for 8 1/2 hours two weeks ago while I saw Blacks who came in after me being taken in and seen before me. Was it a case of racism against me because I'm White, or was it a case where their condition was considered more dire? (FYI...btw, if you ever have to go to the emergency room and you're asked to rate your pain on a scale from 1 to 10, rate it high. You'll be seen quicker.)

Just the other week Oprah claimed to have a racist incident because an ultra-exclusive store wouldn't show her a 50,000 dollar hand bag that was already sold to someone else. Must be racism! People hate people for many reasons. Sometimes they are easy targets to be hated on, and they don't see that there is more to themselves than just their race. People don't like me because I'm weird. Yeah, maybe one out of ten people that don't like me is racist, but I'm pretty sure in the most part it's my awkwardness that pushes people away. Those black men were rude. They should own up to it instead of thinking that being black makes them automatically victims.

The problem is that our media is all too eager to jump on an incident and report it as racism without getting the full story or even caring if what they're reporting is an actual racial incident or not. The simple fact is that racism sells, and the more people you can get riled up by a story the more people will be reading about it.

I was once reading through this prison pen pal website, and it sounds like a joke I've just made up but one of the black inmates seriously wrote

"on the outside I used to love kentucky fried chicken, sometimes I dream about it now but then wake up and realize it's not there"

Maybe it was a joke and it was a prisoner with an ironic sense of humor and he just didn't realize he was being very stereotypically black.

The problem is that our media is all too eager to jump on an incident and report it as racism without getting the full story or even caring if what they're reporting is an actual racial incident or not. The simple fact is that racism sells, and the more people you can get riled up by a story the more people will be reading about it.

It could also be that the media knows when a poorly-reported story can generate a lot of interest. The most potentially-damning bit of evidence in the original story (that the restaurant offered apologies and a free meal) is attributed to one of the group that was asked to leave, and apparently wasn't verified by whoever was reporting on the story. And the rebuttal is from an anonymous person who claims to be an employee of the restaurant, which is also apparently unverified.

It's impressive to see such a massive shit storm created with so little shit.
