The South.
Still as fucking stupid as ever.

Quote: AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Texas National Guard refused to process requests from same-sex couples for benefits on Tuesday despite a Pentagon directive to do so, while Mississippi won't issue applications from state-owned offices. Both states cited their respective bans on gay marriage.

Tuesday was the first working day that gays in the military could apply for benefits after the Pentagon announced it would recognize same-sex marriages. The Department of Defense had announced that it would recognize same-sex marriages performed in states where they are legal following the U.S. Supreme Court decision that threw out parts of the Defense of Marriage Act.

Texas and Mississippi appeared to be the only two states limiting how and where same-sex spouses of National Guard members could register for identification cards and benefits, according to an Associated Press tally.

Jeez, maybe they should just secede.

Oh, wait - they tried that once. Thinking

Still... Mini.. it should be entertaining to watch the soon coming court marshals. Do they seriously think the generals are going to throw away their careers over this? The ban hammer is going to be pounding away at some Texas toy soldiers.

May as well put this here.

North Carolina.

Quote:A pastor at a multi-racial church in Charlotte, N.C., recently sparked a controversy among its congregation when she quietly issued a request to a group of volunteer greeters at the church that she wanted "only white people" greeting people at the front of the church as they come in for Sunday morning services.

Quote:Pastor Pennycooke reportedly reminded volunteers in the email that fall is one of the busiest times of year for the church and they needed to put their "best" forward. "We anticipate having an increase in the number of people visiting and attending Freedom House over the next few weeks," Pennycooke noted in the email while pointing out that "first impressions matter" and the church wants "the best of the best on the front doors."

While acknowledging that it was a sensitive issue, Pennycooke said, "we are continuing to work to bring our racial demographic pendulum back to mid-line….So we would like to ask that only white people be on the front doors."

"We would rather have less greeters on the front door if it means that the few that we have will represent us the best," Pastor Pennycooke wrote.

By all means, do not miss the photo of Pastor Pennycooke.
