Hmmm, this may serve to explain the popularity of Soylent Green.

If people taste like bacon, bring on the Soylent Green!
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

I suggest we start with harvesting theists. They must taste better than they think, right?

I've heard similar arguments, though I do not know whether they stand up to scrutiny.

There could be something to it, however - historically, there have been health issues regarding undercooked pork. Shellfish under certain conditions can carry deadly toxins that do not afflict finned fish. Rabbits often carry diseases. At one point, I went through Leviticus and Deuteronomy to try and make sense of the prohibitions from a non-theological POV (i.e. might there be practical reasons beyond godforbidsit). It's been some time, so I don't recall many of the forbidden foods off the top of my head, but as I recall many made some kind of sense.

It would not be unreasonable to suppose that ancient people might have noticed that people sometimes got sick after eating certain foods, and superstition being what it is, concluded that (the) god(s) must be angry. Hardly conclusive, absent any scholarship which I certainly do not feel like doing.

You'd think that it would be easier for God to tell people to cook their pork all the way. I understand how these things would come about from a historical perspective, but modern humans should laugh at this. The Muslim world still believes all this shit, same with Jews, 7th day Adventists and a handful of others.

There is a source for scholarly papers called Academia.edu and they have this one on point.

You have to be a member to access the files and I was able to link to a chart.

Guess what? Pigs were big in Philistia. Not so much in Judah but relatively more common in the northern kingdom of "Israel." As one scholar noted, "Pigs breed fast, and donot need to be driven to pasture when there is enough available food, such as vegetables andanimal waste. They are usually exploited for their meat, considering the lack of secondary products that can be extracted from them. They cannot be driven far and hence domestic pigs are not suitable for nomadic life."

Again, the Judahites were pastoral nomads driving their flocks from place to place.
