That's disappointing...  Sad
I thought you said it didn't depend on the mass. There's got to be a small enough mass, depending on the material, where your thing resembles a sphere more than a square box.

Oh, a *sliding* ball will behave the same way as I calculated above. It's only when it can roll that things change
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

I swear every 6 months or so I watch this and am just amazed.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Just enrolled on an open study A Level in Philosophy Big Grin I've already started reading the recommended (but not required) textbook for year one and am already fascinated; it starts by talking about logic; deductive, inductive, evaluating arguments, identifying fallacies etc. I think this site is going to be wonderful practice/revision for this course so expect to see me getting far more involved in that side of things - logical debate and critiquing arguments - over the next year or two Wink I'm happy... this is going to be great fun Big Grin

Doing some embroidery, and occasionally looking towards the window and shuddering. Weather today has been particularly nasty, with at least one more day of windy cold before it starts to warm up again. Really not looking forward to going out to work tomorrow morning.

It's late Friday afternoon, I'm safely home from work and mostly thawed out, and I'm going shopping just because. I don't need to buy a lot of stuff -- only things on the grocery chalkboard in the hall are "milk" and "peppercorns" -- I just want to wander through a bright, shiny mall and soak in light and white noise and coffee.

Waiting for all of the backup shit in my phone to happen. Backing up my text messages is tiresome.

Looking through the glossary in my philosophy textbook, I see that 'sceptical' and 'scepticism' are two completely different things... I never knew that and ever since I joined this site I've wondered why 'scepticism' was in the pseudo-science... woo... forum... but now I know. So what's a sceptic then... which one does it apply to and if only one, what is the shortened form of the other?

Listening to Holy Esque, having just wrapped up watching the MLS draft. Vermicelli with tuna and spinach cooking.

Reading about the folding of American Apparel. Never knew they had a situation. I liked their stuff, but they didn't do plus-size (at least locally).
