Ukraine is a separate country from Russia but I wanted to know if your country is experiencing the same revival of Orthodoxy and imposition of religious ideology into the law.

Thanx, fellows!

I'm glad to join AF.

The situation in Ukraine is pretty same as in Russia. The only difference that Ukraine is more democracy country where we can discuss this problem openly. There are many TV programs about church mafia and I hope soon that it will change the community point of view.

Unfortunately, the level of life is very low in Ukraine and it forces people to believe any theory offering the salvation.
Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

I love meerkats!

I've got a jewelry box on my desk that's carved as a bunch of meerkats standing around the den.

Do the Ukrainians speak Russian or their own language? Or perhaps a dialect of Russian?

As long as opinions can be freely expressed, religion is doomed. It may take time but religion can't survive inspection or questioning.

Most Ukrainians freely speak both languages. These languages have differences, but their common roots are remarkable.

The Ukrainians can speak and understand Belorussian, Polish, Czech, Slovak and other eastern European languages after short adaptation.
Russians can't.

Ah, they sound like Americans, then. Tongue

Joke I heard once:

What do you call someone who speaks many languages?
Multilingual.
What do you call someone who speaks two languages?
Bilingual.
What do you call someone who speaks only one language?
American.
