Heisenbergs end. (Spoilers!!!)
#11
RE: Heisenbergs end. (Spoilers!!!)
After everything he's been through (and what TV character has ever had a more brutal ride?), it seems that the cruelest thing the writers could do to Jesse would be to leave him alive to spend years haunted by guilt, loss, and trauma. Somehow, I don't think he makes it. I just hope he gets to kill that "Opie, dead-eyed piece of shit" Todd before he goes.

As for Walter, Vince Gilligan famously said that his goal was to take a Mr. Chips-type character and turn him into Scarface. When I saw that bad-ass piece of military hardware in his trunk, I immediately flashed on the final scene of "Scarface" with Pacino going down in a hail of gunfire. Maybe it's too obvious a reference to use in the show, but it would be a sort of justice for all of the damage Walter has done.

Maybe Walter's ultimate punishment will be to survive his suicide mission only to spend what's left of his life alone and on the run, dying of cancer, unable to make good on any of his hopes of leaving any of the money for the family he destroyed -- a failure that would dwarf his previous failure to cash in on Grey Matter.

I could not agree more- but Brock is still alive, yes? That may be Jesse's mission for survival.

And that quote about Todd was one of my favorite lines this season. What a terrific role (Todd), and how wonderfully that actor plays him. I'd run if I ever met him.

Excellent observations. I'm inclined to agree with you except that every prediction I've ever made about this show has turned out to be dead wrong. But my money's on you being right.

A great finaly, but I somehow dislike how it left Jesse as the one who lost.

But he was the last man standing... so how did he lose? He got free of slavery, killed the evil Todd, refused to play Walt's bullshit games anymore, and left. Granted, he has nothing left, but he could start again, I guess.

I was slightly disappointed at the lack of clever twists and turns- this was a pretty predictable ending.

Wow, brilliant finale. BB seals its place as the best TV show ever.

Loved how Walt figured out a way to get the money to his kids - the one thing that he really wanted to do through all of this.

I always thought it should end with Jesse shooting Walt, but this ending was better.

Liked the way they ended it with Jesse. He got his revenge on Todd for killing the former girlfriend and got away. But, after all this he had no money. This was fitting, as Jesse was no angel himself. He was all horrified when Todd shot the boy on the motorcycle, but how many lives did Jesse ruin by cooking meth? Plenty - he just didn't see it. And, he was doing it before Walt came along, so no one to blame. And further, he killed Gale. Jesse was only good in comparison to some others.

I never cared much for Skyler, but she nailed her scene in this episode. She managed to show a combination of hate, love, and respect in a few minutes and without many words.

And, great choice of song for the final scene.
