For instance, it's my right to demand a different doctor if I'm admitted to hospital, I do not have to see the one that admitted me, etc.

You can request another Dr but why would you?

I worked in a hospital for 12 years ask me anything about the NHS.

I could, but really, you couldn't join our cause anyways even if you wanted to. It's not a universal, but a national ideology, you being not part of the nation makes it moot for me to try and convince you of it.

Before I start my readings, tell me what you guys think the best political system is!

A federal representative republic within which the regional provincial goverments have in combination the power to veto decisions by the federal goverment.

Quote:My personal opinion before reading: My mind heads towards socialism and Marxism, but I believe capitalism has been the most successful. Democracy gives great freedoms, but as Churchill said "The strongest argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."

I have given up being a person who sticks to an ideology a long time ago.

Before an elections I go through the presented arguments and statistics and base the choice of my vote on those.

How about because it's up to you in the first place if you want to be treated by a doctor? You might not want one that overprescribes his patients? There's all kinds of reasons. You might want one that knows your medical history, and you might want one that doesn't know your medical history. Depending if you want a more qualified diagnosis - or - a more unbiased diagnosis.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke

Conservatism/libertarianism lets you take control of your own life and live how you would like to. Don't you want to make your own decisions about how to live, how to spend your time. Most views of conservatives presented by liberals on here are ridiculous stereotypes. People saying things like 'republicans want to roll back the civil rights act' although no mainstream conservative has said this for ages, and in fact southern Democrats were the ones who blocked civil rights. The majority of things I see on here 'representing conservatives' normally quotes some state senator or congressman who is in no way mainstream. I agree that there are religious nuts that have mixed into the mix but that's no different from any political philosophy. It's not like left wingers in the U.S. are brimming with Atheists and they are more than willing to throw Atheists under the bus to pander to the black or Hispanic vote.

Even social conservatism offers a lot when it comes to ideals like personal responsibility and the health of the individual.
