What animal represents your country

RE: What animal represents your country
Oh Poca, that's quite pretty. Reminds me of the Swedish dalahäst (Dalecarlian horse), a very common symbol for Dalarna, a province in the middle of Sweden.

EDIT: And regarding the link you posted, I totally forgot about the bear! According to an ancient superstition, you're not supposed to call a bear a bear, because saying his true name will summon him and make him powerful. So, though karhu is bear in Finnish, it can also be called e.g. otso (also used as a male name), mesikämmen (literally translated it means honey paw) and kontio. The bear is also called the king of the forest, but that's a title he shares with the moose Tongue
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

The problem with us and national animals if You do not accept the beaver is that We have not definitely declared any single animal to be THE national animal. Just look at our money.

I will never understand for what reason THAT country of all places is the lion.

Geographically speaking, of course.

Just can't keep those bloody fuckers out of my garden."

Yup. Reminds me of the fact that when they started to translate the Bible into Finnish, the translators did not know what a lion was. They named the animal jalopeura, which means noble deer. Because you know, they have so much in common Tongue
