I think it's more fair to ask why Christians insist in one breath that their God is not a capricious and bloodthirsty psychopathic monster, yet insist that we treat him like he's a capricious and bloodthirsty psychopathic monster by supplicating for forgiveness and accept the fact that, no matter how hard you try to be what he wants you to be, you're still just as likely as any god-hating atheist to suffer tragedy, deprivation and death, and as often as not, he will ignore your most horrible suffering while the god-hating atheist will achieve and succeed at life. And all for a reward which may or may not be handed out after you die and zero evidence existing to suggest it ever has been. Why? Just because.
There's no logical reason why God should insist that you have to be a gullible idiot (sorry, 'have faith') in order to be saved, because if you weren't a gullible idiot, you wouldn't take any of this seriously in the first place.
Cue a gullible idiot or two demonstrating that he's a gullible idiot by vociferously attempting to explain why he isn't a gullible idiot.

Not per say but adults humor them and treat them in a special way. I mean if a full grown man demanded some sort of special devotion just because he had a job and responsibilities that would be ridiculous. Only children need special attention. Sane adults take action and do positive things through their own initiative. Your god acts like the former.

It is an odd thing to really do when you think about it, it really because this God like many others have stated represent us in a way. If a being had insight to the degree of God. Why the hell does he seem to get jealous, why does he seem to care more about rather or not you bang someone than healing a broken world? It is because he represents us, like Ivy said he is our image. As a christian this was a thought that haunted me for a long time. Questions I prayed an atheist would never ask me, if I was asked I would simply state the this being's logic and perception is different so there might be variable we may not understand. However, I failed to really see the issues with this being. In the end it just a manifestation of humanities insecurities and willingness to look outward to a higher power to solve our problems, instead of looking at ourselves.

I don't care how perfect a god is, listening to 4 billion prayers every day would drive him insane.
There is an ALLLL-knowing, ALLLL-powerful, inVISible being who is everywhere, who created the WHOLE universe, who lives in another dimension called heaven, who is perfect in every way, who was never born and will never die, and who watches you every minute of every day (even when you're squeezing one out on the toilet). There are also unicorns, leprechauns, Santa Claus, an Easter Bunny, and a giant purple people eater.
