Credo

Credo
Someone mentioned awhile back that I ought to at least post a bit about what I believe.

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

There is no distinction just because you changed to to at. It is the same thing.

RE: Credo
Zombies are a pretty popular topic these days.

Indeed. Here is a much better rime.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Preaching isn't allowed here, Max.

And if I wanted to be Catholic again all I'd have to do is go back to church. But frankly I'd rather watch grass grow since it's far less boring than a Catholic mass.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

RE: Credo
I believe in kindness to my neighbors.
I believe in teaching children math and impulse control.
I believe in living my the one life I know I have as fully and richly and sensually and laughingly as possible.
I believe in reading poetry and listening to music and spending time with dogs.
I believe in volunteering my time to help others.

I believe that if I don't do these things, my life will be flat, stale, and unprofitable, and the people in my community would miss my small input.

I have no faith in any of the above, but belief based on data gathered from experience that these things are enriching.

I don't think there's any reason why you can't agree with me and believe your religious creed- it's just weird you would put that before the things on my list.
