This is true, I'm just amazed congress did something.

And, really, what would they have won? I mean, sure, they would have lost Obamacare, but, seriously, if they had really gone through with this, things would have led to an even greater economic recession/depression than the one they've been dealing with for the past few years. Where's the benefit? Maybe if they kept blaming Obama, but they've tried that and nobody fell for it. In fact, the more they do it, the more people blame them for it.

I'm having trouble fathoming what political benefit they expected to receive from this stunt, aside from delighting the morons who already supported them. The Teabaggers' numbers are in the toilet as a result of this; even the less-crazy Republicans can't distance themselves fast enough. And they thought people would be so fucking stupid that they'd blame the President?

I sure as hell don't expect genius from the GOP, but I do expect that these human dung beetles would have a more keenly developed sense of political survival than this! Watching the Tea Party fuck this up and tarnish their already questionable brand has been fascinating.

Did anyone catch the feed from the congressional stenographer who went all fire and brimstone on an open mike? We don't just elect loopy, we also pay for it, too.

Yeah, sure did. http://news.yahoo.com/house-employee-esc...36271.html

Quote:A House GOP aide told CNN the woman said, "Do not be deceived. God shall not be mocked. A House divided cannot stand."

The woman, identified by ABC News and other sources as Dianne Reidy, was quickly pulled off the rostrum by House security officers.

As she was being led away, she was heard to shout, "This is not one nation under God. It never was."

Looks like big business is pretty frustrated with the GOP teabaggers and will probably look to replace them next election. Which could mean more moderate Republicans, and fewer fringe candidates, which is a pity because it was the ultra-right teabaggers driving the GOP into the ground.

At any rate, I'm hopeful that this shutdown mess the Repubs have brought onto themselves resonates with voters next November and the Democrats not only hold the Senate but gain quite a few seats.

They won't. As I predicted earlier this year, watch for the GOP to double down on batshit crazy during the next couple of election cycles.

Oddly this will happen next year, and the year a after than, so on and so forth. All the while the 1% buy up and monoplized resources until the inevitable collapse happens.

And if there's any justice in the world, they'll be batshitting themselves into irrelevance quickly.

I imagine the US economy at the moment being akin to a piece moving around a monopoly board where everyone else has bought hotels, surviving only by landing on the train stations (which still cost tens of millions a day).

I know that's incredibly simplistic (I did do a business economics degree), but It sort of fits with the debt ceiling debacle.
