Well if you're going to argue with ppl on facebook...
1. just because he thinks it's hopeless doesn't make it untrue, believe it or not his opinions doesn't affect truth.
2. people make up their own right and wrong all the fucking time, religion just succeeded in convincing everyone to do it in more or less the same way. Can he show that his value of right and wrong came from god? Even if we grant that the bible is the word of god (which it isn't). Does he think looking at a woman with lust is the same as rape? Does he think hate is the same as murder? Please. What about other gods? They think their morality came from god but why is it most christians do not support polygamy when it is seen as a way of helping poor women out in Islam? Where did they get their morality from? Where do murderers get their sense of right and wrong from? It's obvious everyone is making it up as they go, that's why no one ever agrees on shit.

Until I commented on a page I'd liked. Didn't realize everyone would see it. Not that it makes a difference to me in the end, I just hope I don't start suffering personal attacks or an overwhelming amount of religious type posts because of it. Lol this is how I came out as an atheist. I commented on a Richard Dawkins page and everyone on fb saw it.

And the most interesting thing to me is that people are surprised by it. Truly, that I don't think god is real and that we really are here for no reason, they can't seem to wrap their heads around it.

Growing up in Australia, I was actually surprised to learn that other people had to come out as atheist at all. I went for years and years without ever having so much as a hint of a religious conversation, with only the vaguest idea that people entertained different religions because I had a muslim friend in elementary school. And I never once thought that people actually believed any of this stuff; until I got a good look at America it was all just a bunch of traditions as harmless as christmas.
Of course, now my wider world includes the few dumbass religiously motivated politicians and such here, and... well, it's on, now.

I have very few friends on facebook, since I do not use it much. Most of the friends are probably religious due to military affiliation.

I've got a few christian people on facebook and also a few deists. Everyone knows I'm Atheist due to my tattoo posts and people asking what the symbol means. My normal response to people posting religion related stuff is to post a de-motivational pic from here, unfortunately apart from a few other atheist friends it never gets the response i'm looking for lol.

People keep deleting me from FB
I am very open about being an atheist. Sometimes I go on these rants (as some of you have seen, if you have me in your contacts) and I express my inconformity with the double standard of the church feeling its persecuted when in fact sometimes we are the ones being attacked. The reason I talk about this is that I am often attacked by family and "friends" of the family for my non-belief. I mostly have family and close friends of the family on FB (and some AF members) and so I rant about this there to make sure everyone is covered. Then a few go ahead and delete me and that is that.

At least you've got a good attitude about it, Ivy: frankly, anyone who would cut off conversation over something as petty as a disagreement over beliefs, doesn't deserve to be on a friends list to begin with, since they're failing the first part of that term.

It depends on what kind of beliefs. I've unfriended people for making racist remarks, and one guy for supporting child marriages.
I don't need people like that sharing shit on my fb.
