Here's Looking At You.

RE: Here's Looking At You.
I generally glance at my own reflection just to see if anything looks silly or out of place - hair sticking up kind of thing. I once discovered I had ripped by back jean pocket nearly completely off - it was hanging by a thread (I'd just squeezed through a narrow gap and felt it get caught on something but I hadn't realized the damage till I saw the reflection).

Sometimes I look at the reflection of others - usually pretty girls to be honest - its generally less socially unacceptable that staring directly at them.

I look at myself to see who I am today. Ivy or Ivi. Then I walk away trying to switch to the other.

Footnote: just because I think I look fine does not mean I actually look fine. Case in point: wardrobe malfunctions. Huge ones.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I often look at myself as I pass by a reflective surface as I'm curious to see what I look like and also a little vain.

I always look, to check if everything still looks ok. If I'm in a room with a mirror, I won't stare at it, just a quick check. I can manage to walk by reflective surfaces without looking, mostly when I'm with others.

I'd say I'm fairly confident in the way I look though, there was a time when I wasn't and I HATED reflective surfaces and I never look at them.

I really do not find myself looking at my reflection at all. If I do I am not aware of it. Oddly enough I never really spend to much time looking at myself. It is kinda odd however that I do not.

I agree with the old adage "the eyes are the window to the soul," so I often spend several minutes of deep reflection just staring into my own eyes. I can't explain why, but it helps me understand who I am. I also like looking at myself from that perspective to see myself as others see me. It helps me try to gain a third-person perspective about myself. Plus, I admit that I am also a little vain.

Yea I totally just noticed I was OVERLY redundant in my post. Faith, I agree however with your sentiment regarding "eye are the gateway to the soul". I make a point alot of times to make eye contact with people when talking. It seems to help alot when attempting to convey points.

I look at myself quite often. Other people have to look at me, so it's only fair that I should suffer right along with them.

Thank you all so much for your responses. My work in the study of psychology can become a bit 'clinical' at times, and so I enjoy breaking up the professional boredom with some good old-fashioned observational exercises (crap, that sounded clinical). Thanks again, you guys are cool.
