There are some theists (and poes) here who will tell you that you are a moron for not believing in their particular version of god. You may be told that hell awaits you. You may be mocked. Your intelligence may be challenged or insulted. You may be threatened. Just remember - it's all done in the name of Jesus.

On a happier note Welcome

Glad to have you here.

I would not call someone a moron for their honestly held beliefs.

Welcome Wes.
I look forward to polite and civil discussion with you, freefrom fallacies and personal insults.

When the beliefs are honestly silly, it is okay to call them morons for having those beliefs.

No, you'll just strongly insinuate.

I can see already that there's a few regulars who will no doubt leave me with a crushing sense of disapointment ha. It's all good though, i've probably had my intelligence insulted by far better people (and probably far worse as well). I expect that i'll find them lurking around the religion subforums, sidestepping the issue of plausability or just never giving it an honestly open-minded stab. PS there's no Scientologists around is there? They're like the really deformed cornflake that filtered its way to the bottom of the box. Not sure I can gaurantee not mocking them just a little Big Grin

(bold added by me)

Not that I've seen thus far. Scientology is a MLM scheme plain and simple. I don't think they'll waste their time where the con won't sell. This is a place where you can express yourself relatively freely while allowing others to do the same. Some of the banter you'll see has been cultivated over weeks and months, and may not sink in until you spend some time here and get to 'know' some members better. Overall it's a fun place to kill some time and share ideas while having some laughs.

Cheers! Cheers!

This forum works best when people commit to civil, friendly dialogue and drop the gratuitous insults.

I can do civil, but I do not care for friendly.

I tend to not use profanity.
