Emphasis below is mine; bolded blue text, Chuck; bolded green text, Drich or his source.

By the end of the first paragraph the ny times writer says:
"Affluent countries like Saudi Arabia, South Korea, China and India have descended on fertile plains across the African continent, acquiring huge tracts of land to produce wheat, rice and corn for consumption back home."

That looks like a contradiction to me chief.

Did you not read the quotation or was it your hope I didn't read it?

You said there was no way any of the crops being produced in Africa, would ever go back to china.

Having only read the last page and going only on your claims on this page, Drich, you are simply wrong. Chuck made a claim about the destination of food stuffs produced on the farms along the Nile. Your quoted author made a claim related to the entire African continent. Admittedly, the Nile plains are a substantial producing region, but they are not the whole of the African continent, not even if you only restrict it to arable farm land. And in this last page alone, between first post and last post, you claimed that Chuck's said a) the Nile plain, and then, b) Africa as a whole. You cannot infer statements about the Nile plain from statements about the African continent as a whole.

You have said that, if I recall correctly, you left high school with a fourth grade reading ability. Here's a tip, Drich. After reading you more closely over the past year, it's clear that, after falling from the tree and hitting the ground, that particular apple didn't roll an appreciable amount.

So, are you willing to openly challenge the content my statement? (that china has procured farm land along side portions of the nile basin for the express purposes of shipping their crops back home for consumption? As apposed to chucks statement which declares absolutely no crops were ever intended to go back to china) or are you content only examining one facet or just one page of this discussion and drawing a closed minded conclusion that ford you just enough ammo to launch a half hearted personal attack?

I lead with the ny times article because of the title, which allowed me to tie in an end times prophecy to this discussion, In that "the Nile dries up." All either of you had to do is simply ask me to provide another source that explicitly says that china Is growing food in the nile basin and they are sending it home for consumption. Then I would have done that. Neither of you seem to be concerned with truth only the opportunity to feel justified in name calling. As such I did not feel I needed to use my "ace in the hole" with chuck or with you because both of you hit the panic stop button in this conversation by resorting to personal attacks, And/or by openly admitting that you were not considering any other inputs in this conversation other than what was written on page 13 of this thread. Apparently forcing you 'morally' to remind me of what you perceive to be my short comings.

Which means content, proof, and the accuracy of this conversation for you like chuck is just a vechical to deliver the venomous, hate filled words you have on your hearts. All I have to say about that is keep these words coming, because the more angry poison you spit my way the truer my bell rings.

If however you are willing to open your mind beyond one page of discussion to the actual truth of the matter just say the word, and I can post a couple of different links that show China's agricultural activity all over Africa including the nile basin.

Just so there aren't any loose ends; you maybe who you were in high school, but for me high school was 20+ years ago, I've since learned enough to defang a harpy or two if and when the occasion arises. Wink
