What I saw offline today.

RE: What I saw offline today.
I was on the bus home from a few days away at Shell's, helping out with her new puppy (not a euphemism, sadly) when I caught sight of this through the window:

Everyone was commenting on it and so I couldn't go without taking a snap. That location is part of Walsall town centre, overlooking the cenotaph which doubles as a bus station. Almost all the buildings around it are listed and thus can't be demolished or moved, so the bus station can get pretty congested.

The cenotaph itself - just visible off-centre in the first two pics - is on this site because it was the spot where the Mayor of the day (or maybe it was his wife, I forget) was killed in a zeppelin raid in WWI. One of the buildings still carries a hole in its brickwork from the shrapnel. Near to that is the building which was the birthplace of our famous son Jerome K Jerome, of 3 Men In A Boat fame.

Anyway, that concludes our tour. Please exit through the gift shop.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I love threads like this. Smile

These are older pics, but the views haven't changed.

Standing aways down in my pasture and looking back up toward the home area. The trees are all bigger now, I guess:

What I hope is NOT coming soon but probably is... this is my view when it snows from up near the workshop looking down the pasture:

Looking over the trout pond in early spring:

This actually greeted me a couple of days ago. One of my goats wanted a new 'do for the holidays, I guess. Had to get into a tangle with one of my llamas to get it. What do we think? More George Washington? Or Marie Antoinette?

That's enough for now. Will bore you with more another time. Smile

Gorgeous sky! In Wassail, near Birmingham? I've been there! Went to visit our friends Tony and Marie in their garden. Have you been to it? They make it open for a lot fundraisers. They've been doing it all themselves for well over 30 years. Such a small world! (This calls for a couple of snaps that are decidedly yesterday, when we visited in 2008.)

This is Tony and Marie in their garden.

And this is me and the Mrs having tea in the Gazebo.

These guys really know how to make a bloke feel at home.

The view from where we ate lunch al fresco.

I hope to return some day. So have you heard of their garden Stimbo?

You live in paradise? How neat. Is it a working farm? Thanks for the tour! You're in the states, right?

You know, I think I might have done, though quite some years ago in my former life.

Incidentally, you can measure how local a person is by the way they pronounce "Wor-sull". Tongue (I'll let you survive the Birmingham reference - this once Wink)

Also, and this is completely useless randomness, the bus at the rear of the two pictured, the one with the orange destination text, is the one I'd been riding.

whateverist, that garden is stunning!!! I love English gardens... we spend all our time here trying to emulate them. Smile

Yes, I'm fortunate to live in a very beautiful spot. And lucky you (har!), I love to take photos of where I live. Just tell me if I get too annoying... but everyone lives somewhere beautiful, and it's so cool to see it through their eyes! Like I almost never see a sunset where I live. Too many trees blocking my view to the west. So I LOVE seeing everyone else's!!

Thanks for starting the thread. Smile

My across the street neighbor Samuel got a new mailbox (The post won't deliver there now)

Our town's mayor won first place for his lamp design (We're excited to see what he'll do with the street lighting!)

This is my best pal Mike (He's my shootin buddy)

Finally, my down the block neighbor kid Skip (That's a new pool)
