I'm probably well behind with handing out reps now. I lose track far too easily.

Maybe we could all form one large frothy, foamy mass the way some frogs do and let our reps fly in every direction. But the image of rep whoring hounds in pursuit of fresh meat works too.

I've gotten one or two of those. Ah, well. Humility points for me (from me).

Yes, whateverist, you deserve some punishment Wink

To rep or not to rep. That is the question.

I have learned from this thread. I will never again rep newbies. It's true. When I rep them and they leave I get a tiny little inzy bitzy feeling of deception.

Giving: I rep when I like someone for a particular reason very much. I rep when I have liked a person for a while and reasons to like this person keep accumulating, all of a sudden realizing I forgot to rep him/her. I rep when a person deserves credit for taking heat, making good posts, etc., even if I don't like the particular person. I don't always elaborate in the reps I give, making a small comment that may or may not define completely what lead me to give the rep. Giving rep is awesome!

Getting: Getting rep is awesome! Is all.

I have to add what perhaps everyone has wanted to say, but forgot:

Walking Void gives the best reps ever! He's so inspired, so deep, so particular and original in every rep he gives.

Tongue

high five!
Pointing around: "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, you're cool, fuck you, I'm out!"

Really? Gee, sounds like it would have been memorable if he'd done me. I'll have to go back and see if he's in the little black book.

I actually like giving rep to new members. Way I see it is that if they are good and I rep them, maybe they will feel more welcome/valued and stick around. Worst case scenario is they leave and nobody gets to see the 1 internet point I gave them. Everyone has the same criteria for me. Make me smile/laugh enough times then rep is given. I often rep our theist members too, some of them are actually my favorite members strangely.

They have a massive purpose. wink wink
