Dialectic materialism was a theory emmited in the 19-th century by
the german philosopher Hegel ,adopted by the founding fathers of Communism , Marx and Engels and was part of the official philosophy of the Soviet Union and it's satelites.
I wonder if it is not up today part of the official philosophy of China or Cuba.
The dialectic materialism denied god totally being essentialy atheistic.
Darwin was held in the communist countries in high esteem and the
"Origin of species "was learned in school beginning with low grades.
The Dialectic materialism affirmed that evolution at any of it's stages is a result of a fight between opposed (dialectic) elements ,the strongest of them having the upper hand.
The principle does apply to every phenomenon in nature ,inclusive life.
The second principle said that in the wake of evolution quantitive cummulation of individual factors create a "leap" or as we say to day a gap in the evolution transforming the previos status in an elevated one of new quality.
