Poor victimized atheist.

Our day is coming, pal.

Didn't it already come? You just chose the wrong country to live in...

Go get you secular humanist manifesto, or whatever floats your boat, carve it on a monument and place it next to the cross. Issue solved. Freedom preserved. The alternative is just censorship, plain and simple.

I think that if anyone did that, there would be a very loud and indignant outcry from Christians. Do you really believe that they would be okay with what you propose?

It already happened. Apparently the so-called intolerant Christians didn't raise enough fuss toake the news. Unlike your loving accepting happy good time atheists.

No, they much prefer petty vandalism instead. And against any viewpoint that isn't Christian, too. Such an improvement. Rolleyes

When they aren't making histrionic press releases either.

Oh, and getting on the news too. I guess being wrong suits you. All of those stories, by the way, occurred after the Mount Soledad ruling, so... hey.

I know this is a necropost, but I figured the existing thread could give better context than I could in one post. Hoping mods don't disagree too strongly.
Quote:After 25 years of lawsuits and court rulings about the cross on Mount Soledad, there is a proposed solution in front of Congress.
The giant cross stands on government-owned land overlooking Mission Bay and La Jolla and has been at the center of a legal battle that reached the U.S. Supreme Court.
Court Won't Hear Case on Mount Soledad Cross
Now, Congress is close to passing a defense bill that would include a transfer of the property from the federal government over to the Mount Soledad Memorial Association. If approved, it would eliminate the concern by opponents that a cross on public property violates the constitutional separation of church and state.

Transfering public property to private hands for the expressed purpose of allowing a religious symbol to be set up in former public property is even worse.

Congress is taking another step to preserve a war memorial cross at Mount Soledad.

This week, the U.S. Senate is expected to approve a bill that could save the 43-foot cross overlooking the city of San Diego.

They act like we're going to blow it up or something. The Episcopal church, literally next-door, has agreed to take it and erect it on their land. It's ridiculous. At this point, it's just a bunch of crusaders trying to make an illegal point.

How much will the Christians be paying for this land that belongs to the government?

Because if the government is giving land away for the purpose of allowing monuments, I want in on that.
