Mt. Soledad cross ordered to be taken down
#21
RE: Mt. Soledad cross ordered to be taken down
As I recall neon Nazis were allowed to march in Skokie IL a mostly Jewish community. Free speech extends to even the most vile. Zoning restrictions can set physical limitations but cannot regulate content. People used to say, "It's a free country." You don't hear that very often any more.

What I find telling is that it was the ACLU that supported the Nazis but now files suit against Christians.

Wanna see how many children have died because those prayers were used as a replacement to proper medical care? Shall I trot Luckie back in here to tell her story in that vein again?

That's the harm prayer does.

Giant swastika, overlooking your house. Big ass billboard right next to it, "paid for by this guy," with a big red arrow pointing directly down at your place: still cool? Can't regulate for content, right?

Better yet, giant islamic symbol. Big ol' satanist pentagram. A monument village of every competing religion, on public land. You'd be fine with that?

Alright, let's play the cascading consequences game!

Since you can't demonstrate that prayer actually works, what you're saying is that you prioritize the fuzzy feel goods of a couple billion people, over the lives of a smaller number of children. Does holding that position make you feel good?

Children? How would stopping prayer in school help those "few" children?

And since you can't prove it doesn't work... what harm does it do?

Might make people less reliant on wishing magic to solve their problems if they weren't indoctrinated in it in every facet of their lives. Dodgy

I'm not going to let you shift the burden of proof and indulge in arguments from ignorance, especially when... well, I think children dying of treatable ailments is a pretty big harm.

ONE is too many.

I'm still waiting for specifics....

How many people were hurt/killed by prayer? That you know of? That you have verifiable proof of?

RE: Mt. Soledad cross ordered to be taken down
The debate about whether the cross should be taken down has gone on for a long time. I remember it being on the front page of the local newspaper when I first moved here, nine years ago.

Christians: you lost the debate. Get over it.
