I'm not sure it's so much indoctrination as it is a cultural thing. I mean, most people can only hear a certain number of times that the emperor is actually wearing clothes before they just go along with it.

No, what I was getting at is that indoctrination is being specifically taught that something is true, and I think a lot of American patriotism is just people doing what everyone else is doing and trying not to be that guy.

Yeah it's stupid as fuck. The Supreme Court ruled no one has to say it or stand up for it, but there is absolutely no enforcement of that ruling. Teachers will tell students to at least stand, guaranteed, no matter what.
